Our cab driver from the airport recommended this and we were so glad he did! We ended up taking another (20 E) cab drive to the high point near the castle St Elmo, as the funicular someone else told us to take was closed for renovation. We didn't realize there were two other funicular locations until we took one back... More

If in Naples it is definitely worth catching the funiculare (€1) up to the Vomero district to take in the stunning view, and relax in the pleasant neighbourhood. We got off with no real idea of where to go for the best vista, but followed signed for St Elmo castle, and just across the road from there was a bar... More

Outstanding panoramic views of the area - City of Naples, the Bay of Naples, Mount Vesuvius, etc. from the tip. Can drive up or take a ride up on the vuniculare. Several restaurants with breathtaking views. Nice place to watch sunset.

Very quiet and nice neighborhood. From the center can be reached by funicular. There are many nice views of Naples and Vesuvius.

Fun half-day outing, finding the funicular near Piazza Dante, then walking to the Castello S. Elmo. Vertiginous views and a 360 degree walk around the parapet. Vesuvius, the bay, the islands and retracing our steps in the Centro Storico from the day before. And all for two Euros!

The Vomero offers some of the best of newer Naples (which is still old) and has the best fashion, yes.. Pizza.. of course and pedestrian friendly streets to walk, Via Luca Giordano is very cool for a stroll day or night, For an extra good time take the Funicular up to the top of the Vomero and walk the beautiful... If you grew tired of chaotic, dangerous, narrow and dirty streets of Napoli, take one of the funicolari and climb up the Vomero hill! The district has elegant villas, shops of the most popular brands and several cafes. Clean alleys with lots of trees. A must see is castel Sant Elmo with a splendid view, that houses many music events... More

Take funiclare and be there. You will see the Mt. Vesuvio and Port of Napoi, Santa Lucia all at once. The sunset was so beautiful that the walls of San Martino turns into pink.
