The exhibits are wounderful and worth visiting. The Ponpeji relicts alone make this place a must for people interested in history and culture. However, even if this place calls itself a National Museum, the whole building is in a shabby state. While this may suit to Napoli, it is for sure a shame for Italy.

The museum is an unexpected treasure trove of classical antiquities, and is quite large - larger than one might expect from first glance at the exterior.

Not to miss in Naples. An extraordinary collection of classical art. Don't miss the 'Secret Chamber' with some sexy pieces from nearby Pompeii. Then, get yourself to Pompeii ! It's amazing.

Great pieces of art most in marble. Amazing to see the greatness of certain statues that fringed the parcs of past times. One minus point because the exposition is not carefully arranged, tonnes of marble lined up with little love for the detail.

Pompeii is amazing for the ambience, but at this museum you can actually see some of the better sculptures, tiles, frescoes, etc that were in Pompeii but were removed due to vandals taking things out of Pompeii, even today. This way they are more secure.

Being so near Pompeii I was expecting more local artefacts, too many statues and not enough smaller artefacts. Everything too spread out

Truly amazing collection of ancient Roman and Greek art. Not to miss: statues from Caracalla and the mosaics from Pompeii. A beautiful building, generally well maintained, but some signs of wear; there is no café inside, but you may leave and return.

Really enjoyed my visit to this museum to see the trasures of Pompeii. Very spacious museum and in a beautiful building. Free to leave bags in lockers. The price was more than advertised and despite having an international student ID card, I was not allowed student discount as I was not studying History of Art, which seemed unfair. Also, the...
