Though we saw stunning wall and floor mosaics removed from Pompeii along with erotic paintings and other artifacts from that destroyed city, I expected more to be on display. The exhibits seemed like only a "teaser," based on what I thought would be here from...More

The majority of the treasures from the nearby archeological sites are found here. It was great to finally see what all was found at these sites all in a well organized museum.

Fantastic Museum. This was not originally on our itinerary but because Vesuvius was closed we had a free morning. Wish we had visited before going to Pompeii as it put Pompeii into perspective. So much of the interesting artefacts from Pompeii and Herculaneum were on...More

We visited the museum after seeing Pompeii, where we had found that all the decent mosaics and wall frescoes and statues had been taken to the museum. Hence it was a must see and we weren't disappointed. At the end of the mosaics room was...More

I highly recommend this museum. Extremely rich in master pieces, such as roman and greek sculptures, roman mosaics from Pompeii and many mores.

probably the best museum in naples. this place houses more artifacts from pompeii than what's in pompeii. the work here is exceptional, and the place is awesome. i highly recommend it, right in the heart of naples.

The Archeological Museum is a must see, especially if you are visiting Pompeii and/or Herculaneum. A large exhibit of the statues and artifacts found at these sites are displayed beautifully and bring to life the inhabitants who lived there in 79 AD. The mosaics are...More

The museum building is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I think we were expecting much more. There were positives, we very much enjoyed the Egyptian section with the real mummies as well as the Pompeii graffiti section which was fascinating! However other than that,...More

The building itself is wonderful never mind the collections within. The collection of mosaics and frescos and other artifacts from Pompeii is truly amazing. So well preserved especially considering the place was buried in 79 AD. Amazing artisans way back then. I did not manage...More

I did not know it is closed one day a week. I was not there on a Tuesday. So worth seeing. There are amazing displays of so many things. Better stuff of Pompeii than Pompeii itself has.
