About
The Chape land the Treasure of San Gennaro narrate the roots of Naples, its millenary civilization, its ancient popular culture and the devotion to its Patron Saint. The Treasure, in addition to the relics, houses a priceless heritage of holy objects in gold, silver, bronze and precious stones. Over the centuries, these riches have been donated to San Gennaro by the members of the Deputation of the Royal Chapel of the Treasure of San Gennaro, by the Neapolitans and foreign kings who reigned or came to visit Naples, by popes and people. The Chapel and the Sacristies are also among the most important monuments of the Neapolitan Baroque!

The treasure is located inside duomo at right. It is really bad that they don’t accept ICOM card in the tickets (they only make a discount)
ICOM card is for people associated with museums worldwide, se they are obliged to accept it.

Not a very large museum, most descriptions also in English.
But wow, what a treasure dedicated to this saint.
Silver, gold and gems, many many gems, in a mitre, necklace and other reliquaries. Quite amazing to see, next to the Duomo, which is also quite a beautiful church

San Gennaro is the saint patron of Naples and its chapel is richly decorated. For me the real treasures of S. Gennaro's chapel are the original paintings by Domenichino (Domenico Zampieri) with its vivacious colours. They represent various events from Saint Gennaro's life.

This is below in the crypt under Naples cathedral and it holds some absolutely stunning pieces of religious items with fantastic jewels. Definately worth going to see this. Unforatunately the cathedral was closed when we went but the crypt and this museum was open and I cant remember how much we paid but it was a surprise as we were not sure what we were going to see as we hadnt researched this.

A very very nice and old church, easy to reach and full of history. Not a must see as there are over 500 churches in Napoli but still good to see.
