Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited this relatively new basilica (1920s) before going underground to the catacombs. Not a huge amount to see in this large and impressive church, but what there is is good.
At the entrance, I was amazed to see Michelangelo's statue of a horned Moses, a copy of the original in San Pietro Al Vincoli in Rome. Astounding!

Such a beautiful Basilica and very well maintained. It is right beside the catacombs so very accessible. It is very ornate and has beautiful art all around. Well worth a visit.

We walked down from the Capodimonte museum along busy and narrow streets. I was so glad we did. The church is big and spacious and light with beautiful art inside. I was happy to see copies of Michelangelo's Moses and Pieta here. In this church you can get close to both these statues where as with the originals you only see them from afar.

After visiting Museum Capodimonte we walked down to this beautiful Basilica. We were fortunate that they had a wedding we could watch.

After leaving the Capodimonte museum, we took a taxi back to Naples. Our taxi driver, who did not speak much English (our Italian is limited), suggested that we stop for a brief visit in a large church located on the hillside near the Capodimonte museum and overlooking Naples. WOW! That little-known church is known as Madre del Buon Consiglio, Basilica dell’Incoronata Madre del Buon Consiglio, or Maria del Buon Consiglio. We’d never heard of that church before; it is in none of our guidebooks about Naples. The church was absolutely stunning, beautiful. The ceiling and the frescos were magnificent. To our surprise, there was a large replica of Michelangelo’s Pietà in the church. Mass was being celebrated while we were there, so we could not look around as much as we would have liked. I understand that the church also houses several works rescued from abandoned and closed churches, including a copy of Michelangelo’s Moses, but we were trying to be unobtrusive and were too much in awe of the church’s ceiling, frescoes, and the replica of Michelangelo’s Pietà to notice much else.

I had gone with the clear intention of visiting the most famous and best publicized catacombs of San Gennaro, when I saw this magnificent basilica. Being early, I decide to visit it but I find it inexplicably closed. Yet on Sunday, like every Christian place of worship, it should be open, but there's nothing to be done, perhaps it's early. I make my visit to the catacombs and return after a few hours hoping for it to open but incredibly it is still closed. How is it possible. A monument that certainly has so much to offer both citizens and tourists cannot be enjoyed and appreciated in all its beauty. Unfortunately I only had to admire it from the outside. Keeping this basilica closed is a real shame.

Ciro was a very knowledgeable and helpful guide. You can see the passion and dedication for the catacombs.
We were impressed even though this type of visit is generally not to our liking.

The church is very recent although inside it contains important works of art taken from other churches to enrich it. Many say we are little San Pietro.... Let's say it reminds us of its architecture at times. In 100 years it will be very interesting
