About
Naples; the city known for its disarray and chaos. And of course, Mount Vesuvius... One of the most dangerous volcano in the world sleeping behind the bay of Naples in peace and silence... The famous view and the symbol of the city... What about the opposite side of this spectacular view? We now urge you to experience it with your own eyes, but not simply on your own feet. Instead, from a different angle; atop horseback! You will be surprised with the beauty of Naples and the islands.... And with this opportunity you are also granted special permission to ride in the national park of Vesuvius, instead of taking the bus with all the other tourists! You will be escorted by coach from your hotel and driven to the stable where you will be given a short briefing by our professional guide. You will then embark on your relaxing tour, riding under the trees, passing by grape fields, climbing up ancient railways, following the way of lava, stopping by the volcanic rocks for a breathtaking view; and of course some pictures; and then galloping up the path and back.... You will be on horseback for around 2-2.5 hours, depending on how fast you are. And after the tour, the couch will drive you back to your hotel. (or to Pompeii, Herculaneum, if you prefer to visit the ruins afterwards) Don’t worry if you’ve never ridden before. You won’t be the only one and the course is designed for beginners, children and all experience levels. (Little children can ride with their parents or with our guides) We require a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 9 people to organize the tours. However, if you are a lone traveler, contact us anyways and we will add you one of the confirmed groups. We are flexible on our tour start times and meeting points in order to best accommodate you on your vacation. We guarantee you an unforgettable day! Enjoy the beautiful view of Naples bay and the islands in a relaxing way from one of the most dangerous volcano on the earth… Sunset Tours also available everyday...

DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. I booked this tour for me and my young children. I asked to be picked up from Pompeii train station, it says on website price for pick up from Pompeii is included. They told me I need to come to Naples instead, I said I could not and asked to cancel please insteas - only ONE hour after I booked!! They said they would not cancel and took my whole cost €350!!! They won’t refund me and won’t pick me up at the location they have advertised on their website. Terrible experience, please be very careful!

We were a group of 8 people who paid €60.- each for the tour.

Positive:
-good communication via email
-easy booking process
-pick up on time at accommodation
-they took a lot of pictures for us

Negative:
-The whole tour was very rushed without any appearent reason. Upon arrival, there was no introduction to the process, the tour or the guides or the horses, they just quickly asked who was experienced, gave us horses and we took off.
The tour started at a very steep road where the guides (who never told us their names) continously told us to rush and "kick" the horses. We were all very confused as we expected a relaxed tour. After the first part they even devided our group without asking and we continued to push the horses up the hill as fast as possible. There was no real opportunity to take in the surroundings as we were told constantly to "kick" the horses, to go faster, or to use the wooden whips that they made out of branches for the slow horses. We even tried to tell them in Italian that we had time and there was no need to rush, but it was overheard.
There was no consideration for the 2 people that have never sat on a horse before and they were never asked if they were okay to gallop up the very challenging steep roads in the wood.
After approximately 30 mins of stressful riding through the dusty roads in the woods, we arrived at the highest point of the trip were we got off the horses and took pictures for max 15 mins before we started our way back.
We were still told to rush the horses and we were still confused as to why we were rushing and why our group was divided since we booked as one group.

We got back to the stable after 1.35hrs where the horses were taken from us immediately by some kids. When we told the guide that it said on the website that the minimum time on horseback was 2hrs he told us (after he argued with us about the time first) this was due to the fact that we were all experienced riders (even though we told them in the beginning that we weren't) and a very fast group.
We were disappointed of the whole experience as it shows great potential, however, we had no time to take it all in and enjoy the ride together as we were divided and driven up and down the hill.

We all agreed that we would not pay 60€ for this again and we expected a more holistic experience (looking at the farm first, introduction to the guides and the tour, comfortable ride as one group with some stops).

As there are many positive reviews, we think it could depend on the guides as other groups tell about a completely different experience. This is something you should be aware of before booking.

Riding up mount Vesuvius was one of the highlights of our trip. The horses were well trained and very safe. I am an experienced rider and I was able to go at a faster pace for some of the ride. Since there were two people from the stable with our group the ride worked well for all levels. No one was held back or rushed. The staff from the stable made the experience fun. I could tell that they really enjoyed what they did and they seemed to genuinely care about the horses. After our ride we enjoyed some wine from the region before being driven back to our hotel. I highly recommend this as a fun and unique way to see the volcano.

I visited naples on my birthday week and it was my first time in the city. I stayed in Hostel of the Sun in the city center and one day there was a strike in the transportation so I cancelled my trip to Sorrento and people at the hostel offered us this trip. I said it can be fun and we went. And now I am still looking at the photos and remembering my awesome trip in the Vesuvious with horse. The people are super friendly, horses are well trained. it was my first time riding a horse but I felt safe because people looked professional. They also take your photos and post to facebook so this is also super cool if you want photos while riding a horse in Vesuvious.

we had a nice view in the top and took amazing photos. and on the way back they even offered us some homemade wine from their own grapes.

I just highly recommend everyone to do that tri. it will for sure one of those Vaoww moments in your life.

and if you do, say hi to Roberto.

This was the first time I had ever ridden a horse and I must admit was a little dubious about the whole experience initially! But wow, what a fantastic way
to explore Mt. Vesuvious! We were collected from our hotel by Roberto, a friendly chap with a great sense of humour. We were given coffee on arrival whilst we waited for our horses to be prepared. The staff were friendly and helpful and gave us basic instruction on how to handle our horses. There were 3 in our group and 3 staff rode with us, Roberto taking the lead, giving further instruction and adding historical information about Vesuvious every now and again. He also took photos with our cameras as and when needed so we had our riding experience captured to share with friends and family. The ride took us up and down small wooded tracks with the most amazing views across the bay of Naples. Once back at the stables we were offered some wine and had time to enthuse over our tour. Roberto then took us back to our hotel. I can not recommend this tour highly enough. It was easy to book, good communication throughout. Roberto's wife, Berry even emailed his car description and registration so we were in no doubt as to who he was. She also messaged us immediately after the tour to wish us well on the rest of our holiday.A truely wonderful experience and is definitely one of the best things I have done whilst in Naples!!

It was my first time going horse riding and it was for most of us in the group! Antonia, Roberto and everyone were so accommodating and welcoming.

We loved the ride up Versuvio, the food, wine and dance session we had after the ride. It has been truly one of the best experiences yet!

This is a hard review to leave, but I feel compelled to let others be aware so they can make their own informed decisions. The tour guide was good. The ride itself felt unsafe, dangerous, haphazard, and was stressful due to numerous dangers present during the ride. I do not recommend this for inexperienced riders. There was no safety training, and little to no ride training at the stable. Helmets were not provided. My horse seemed stressed or annoyed. Most of the trail is steep and narrow, and saturated with large rocks everywhere, smaller loose rocks that the horse kept slipping on, and large, low-hanging branches. The horse I was on seemed to struggle with the ride. Breathing heavy, and slipping on loose rocks. The horse often had to make surprising or sudden movements to traverse the trail. It just all felt very unsafe, notably because if at anytime you were thrown or fell off the horse, there is a high chance of critical injury or worse, due to all the rocks, trees, and steep paths. And the stable staff gave me pause. They came across as very cavalier about safety and the enjoyment of the horses and guests. I would not do this tour again, nor would I recommend it to any of my friends or family.

(This is all in contrast to another horse riding tour in Pompeii here on Trip Advisor that was excellent, using a stable associated with the Italian Federation of Equestrian Sports. There was 15 minutes of professional ride training, lots of safety training, helmets if you wanted, and just a much higher level of care and concern for both the guests and horses.)

We did the tour twice.. It is a very good experience.. I would recommend it to the world.. We had an amazing time both times.. Just two issues we had.. We said we was going to do it a third time before we left as it was a cool tour... I would recommend asking who is in the tour as we had someone who slowed us down considerably as her children were trotting off.. We was not happy with that as she wouldn't listen to catch up.. No effort was made to encourage her to keep up. My daughter will agree. And the other thing we was offered our third tour for free.. Which did not happen.. They avoided the fact Roberto said this and we even gave them tips which I didn't see anyone else do.. So do not accept anything for free off of anyone in Italy as its happening everywhere but they do not do what they say..so be careful what's offered and who's on your tour. We enjoyed our ride with Roberto and his uncle.. Just don't believe what you here.. Ask me any questions I am happy to respond. I am returning to Italy soon on my own and will do it again maybe try another guides for a new experience! Thanks liam
