Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This display of modern art seems inappropriate in Pompeii as much as his “fallen angel” in Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa. . While we walked around the ruins, the only remaining “sculptures” we saw was “the Centaur” in the forum and “the Daedalus” as we were exiting the park. If they want to display this art, then keep it out of the Archeological Park. It detracts from the ruins.

When touring the forum, a number of our group thought this was an interesting sculpture and asked the guide about it since it seemed different than what we had seen so far. Our guide told us it is not original to Pompeii, even though it was made to look as if it was. While a nice piece, it does not belong in an archeological site.

For most people, you assume what you see at Pompeii are either the real thing itself or copies thereof. This is neither. It was created by a 20th century artist called Igor Mitoraj. For some people it might look nice, but it looks out of place sitting in the forum.

We got to see a few of Igot Mitorajs monuments throughout Pompeii and I have to say I felt they were a great addition to the ruins. They really stand out and were a joy to look at. I felt they give an extra dimension to the site and are really in keeping. I wished we had come across more.

Over-sized broken figures laying sideways, smooth green bronze pieces contrast with the barren excavated landscape, sometimes shocking depictions become part of the bodies, and the visitor is left to wonder what the purpose was. This is art.

The artist was a Polish-French man who died in 2014. His shows have been seen elsewhere in historic places. His art echos with lost civilizations and cultures long gone.

The art added one more dimension of interest to the ruins into which they are juxtaposed. From my viewpoint, they added so much to the Pompeii visit and I count myself fortunate for having accidentally been here while the exhibit was showing.

We found that these sculptures add another dimension to the ancient ruins of Pompeii. The landscape would be quite stark without them. The sculptures have a haunting presence and we quite enjoy them. For those who did not appreciate these art pieces, don't fret, its not a permanent display and it will be gone in the new year. This is more pleasing than the pop art display in the chateau Versailles Paris a few years back. Glad that we were able to view them on our tour of Pompeii.

The statues itselves are interesting works, but they spoil the spirit of ancient city. They should be placed in some museum, not the excavations site.

We were fortunate to see Mitoraj's amazing sculpltures at Pompei. It was a surprise for us, we did not know about the exhibition. They were so beautiful and so well placed amoung the ancient ruins. It was a great experience, thanks for the artist and the person who placed them in this creative way.

Unfortunately the large sculptures really were completely unavoidable. They looked like something out of Las Vegas kind of tacky and somewhat poorly executed. After seeing so much of the real thing in Rome, these were just bad knock-offs. They are so big they screw up the entire view of this ancient site. I wonder how much they cost, who paid for them? Very inappropriate.
