We really enjoyed our visit here and personally it's a fantastic place. We arrived by train at Scavi and then joined a walking tour with a guide (Tempio travel), who was very knowledgeable and great fun. After the tour we stayed and walked around on our own as the site is massive and a tour can only cover off so... More

This place is incredible. Worth the effort if your in between Naples or Amalfi coast. We did it in a couple of hours but you could easily spend all day there. So much to see. We did it without the audio guides (just 11€ for entry) and it was fine, still lots to explore but I would get the audio... More

Taking the train from Napoli Centrale with hundreds of people gets you in mod of great expectations. While at the archeological site, you start climbing a path with cobblestones that have seen 2000 years of ash, passengers, oblivion and history. The site is beautiful, you walk the streets, you see the houses and details of everyday in ancient Rome. Take... More

Pompeii was the top of my bucket list! For years I longed to wander the streets and imagine what life was like before the Vesuvius interrupted it. The excavation is ongoing, and this city is huge! I could never imagine what it was like living there until I spent hours wandering the streets and buildings. So much beauty! You can... More

While we spent time all over Italy seeing some amazing sites, this was one of our favorites. Imagine first seeing buildings, ruins, artifacts and art more than 3000 years old. Then imagine seeing the same thing having been excavated from a volcanic eruption. Crazy! Get a free map. We used Rick Steves tour which worked well for us but clearly... More

Very interesting. Great few hours wandering around being amazed by this place. We entered from the exit end which was easy & no queue since our hotel was across the road. Didn,t realise the bodies that were recovered were all displayed at this end in a glass exhibition, so revisited on our way home. Unbelievable such a huge city &... More

I have always wanted to visit Pompeii and was not disappointed. Getting to Pompeii is very easy from Naples, get the Circumvesuviana Train from Naples to Sorrento at Piazza Garibaldi train station. BEWARE – the train are very busy and full of pickpockets and suspicious people, so many people eye-up your bags out and then check you out – BEWARE... More

We were enchanted by the state of preservation of the buildings, frescos and mosaics. The site is huge, so good walking shoes are a must. Quite windy too, and the ancient volcanic dust swirls around and gets in your eyes and nose. Unless it's a hot summer day, have a good windbreaker or rain jacket -- we were cold and... More

The city of Pompeii who was destroyed by an eruption is an amazing experience for everyone, however if you go without guidance you may be go lost and get bored fairly quickly with all these ancient history. Our guide cost only 12 euros per person and was awesome. Don't miss it!
