Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pina is fantastic TOUR GUIDE! Contact is +39.3387634224, e-mail: annamariaesposito1@virgilio.it.
My wife and I spent two days with Pina Esposito. On the first, we toured Pompeii and then Herculaneum. On the second day we went to the northwestern side of the Bay of Naples to visit the Lake Avernus (where there was the entrance to Hades), the Phlegraean Fields (to visit temples, the home of the Roman God Vulcan), and then the Archeology Museum in Naples.
Imagine your favorite university professor teaching her or his favorite class, the one that you’d never miss and still remember today. Imagine then that this professor is teaching you about an engineering culture that produces extraordinary devices—on display everywhere you go—but this engineering culture loves beauty and has amazing perspectival art mostly depicting scenes of a sweet life. These engineers love beauty. They commission frescos and huge mosaics demanding 100 artists. They are also philosophically sophisticated Epicureans. They are completely different from us and yet they are us.
Pina narrates beautifully. She weaves together the discover of artifacts like recently discovered papyrus of Epicurus’ original works—which had been lost—with the phallic street markers in Herculaneun. She tells you about the evolving architecture of the houses. She shows you the temple if Isis and the brothel and explains Roman cosmopolitanism.

Excellent tour with Pina Esposito, beautiful stops on the Amalfi coast on the way to Pompeii. Pina has an extensive knowledge of archaeology and the culture of Campania, knew shops and markets unique to the area. Came away with better understanding of the history of the region surrounding Mount Vesuvius and Southern Italy.
In depth tour of Pompeii, showed us newest discoveries and enriched the already incredible experience of the ancient Roman town. Highly treasured experience, would recommend!

Great guide who can answer any question thrown at him. It was our 2nd visit to Pompeii, last time also using him as our guide. It was amazing to go around all these ancient ruins, but without Giuseppe it wouldn't be half as fun (or understandable). Amazing choice for a tour around Pompeii.

Booked licensed guide Pina Esposito for a day including a morning at Pompeii, and an afternoon tour of the old section of Naples, and so delighted with the experience. We like to walk and are comfortable with public transportation, so we chose not to engage a driver for the day. With Pina, we took the train from Naples to Pompeii and had a good opportunity to talk before arriving. She is is very knowledgeable, good-humored, and engaging. She scaled and paced our time with her very well, and was responsive to our interests. This was in no way a “canned” tour. Payment per her instructions worked well. Highly recommended. She’s terrific.

Luisa was a truly excellent guide for my daughter (15) and I.
It is quite simple, most of us only ever this site once in our lives, so it is worth doing well. Luisa was really very good, she has extensive knowledge of course, but she has an excellent ability to engage a teenager for 2 hours. I am a teacher so my admiration was even greater.
Her driver, Giuseppe was very safe and nice.
I seriously recommend both of them.

We visited Pompeii and Herculaneum (Ercolano) with Giuseppe Galano of VisitPompeii as a guide. What a difference a guide can make! Giuseppe was deeply knowledgeable about both sites, including the history of the archeological exploration and the history of life there. He was so truly enthusiastic about both that it was a pleasure to listen and learn. No trite little stories. Just a fascinating discussion backed by a thorough knowledge of architecture, engineering and art. He made the complexity of the information he was sharing understandable by continually reminding us of the themes: similarities from one house or site to the next, improvements in architecture through the years, life among the rich and life among the poorer. I'd come again in February. No crowds, no lines but beautiful, temperate weather. If I had to choose between Pompeii and Herculaneum, I'd choose both. But if I REALLY had to choose, I'd choose Herculaneum, as long as I could tour with Giuseppe again.

Extremely friendly guide with unpronounceable name, made us feel very welcome. Good for groups to spread the cost.

My friends and I had a great time here. The atmosphere was surpisingly cozy for a location that's theoretically aimed at groups.
Would definitely go again!

Hi, Debra. What would you like to know about this attraction?
My husband and I are interested in a full day tour of both Pompeii and Herculaneum with a private guide. Is it possible to enter the ruins prior to the public opening time? I have also seen notices online about tours after dark, but haven't been able to find a booking site- will this be available to us when we visit the area in October? Finally, we would like a full day tour of Naples with a driver. We plan to stay in the Torre del Greco area. Can that be arranged through your agency?
Thank you,
Debra R.

Hello, We contacted Pina Esposito for a private tour of Herculaneum and Pompeii for 4 people. She is charging us 749 euro and asked us to wire her a 30% down with the words DONO which is Italian for donation in the notes section. This was for tax purposes. We completed the first step to reserve the tour. She confirmed receipt of the funds and now wants the remainder of the 749 euros in advance. I asked her if we can pay on the day of the tour in cash and she said no because she is giving us a discount. This does not seem right. Has anyone else had this experience using this guide. From my point of view one of three things can happen. Either no one will show up which I don't think will happen but I suppose it could or another guide might show up instead of Pina Esposito which because she received all the money up front there will not be anything we can do (bait and switch). We are hiring her for her education and knowledge so we will be disappointed if she sends someone else or the third thing that can happen is that Pina herself may show up as planned which would be great. Pina Esposito has very good trip advisor reviews. I was wondering if this was the procedures others went through to book her. Also is there recourse or procedures we can follow once we get there if she herself is not the tour guide. I never would have sent the deposit if I thought I would have to pay the remainder a week before the tour because there is the possibility of some problems if she actually does not show for the tour. Also I see that she is showing available on Viator for the same day we are booked to tour with her. Any advice?
