This lovely fountain is located in the square where its name comes from, at the foothills of Capitoline Hill, where the church of the same name is located. Pope Sixtus V commission Giacomo della Porta the project in 1589. First and simplest of Renaissance fountains. The street level fountain has a large pool that has several columns along the perimeter, connected with iron rods.Above the second one round bathtub, decorated at the bottom with masks, finally the balustrade supports a small round tank, crowned with putti, which support the symbol of the Chigi family. The fountain remains hardly noticed and little known for the tourist who walks here.

There is a large number of fountains in Rome.
This is located in Piazza dell'Aracoeli, a square which is literally narrowed into a small triangle that is very dangerous because it is always very busy with scooters, motorbikes and cars.
Almost suffocated by the chaotic traffic of Piazza Venezia and Capitoline Hill, this fountain is therefore almost unnoticed by the tourist who is strolling by chance around here.
It has no particular value or a special architectural structure, but it is still very pleasant.
It should, however, be kept better because today it really seems almost abandoned to itself and to the neglect of the municipality of Rome.

Located in the tiny Piazza d'Aracoeli, off to one side of the large Piazza Venezia area, is this fountain. The fountain consists of two circular basins; at the top are cherubs pouring water from little jugs. The fountain was designed by Giacomo della Porta. Worth a look if you are in the area.

This is a teeny piazza off to one side of the larger Piazza Venezia area, behind a little park which itself is behind a large bus stop area. Not much to see, but it has a pretty fountain.

I’d say this fountain is good for a nice photo opportunity with the “wedding cake” in the background but that’s about all its good for. Pretty boring

Created by Giacomo della Porta in 1589 is a 3 basin fountain atop which it the heraldic symbol of the papal family Pope Sixtus V. It is located on an asphalt island in the center of Piazza d’Aracoeli close to the bus stop. The lower basin is surrounded by small stone bollards linked by iron fencing, the middle basin is ovoid in shape and catches the water from the top basin which is delivered by four putti holding amphora’s and the top of the heraldic symbol.

This fountain was not on our itinerary, but we walked right past it. With fountains around every corner in Rome, not all of them can be spectacular.

This nondescript fountain is located within a very small scruffy square with a tourist office on one side. Although it pales into insignificance compared to the many grand structures nearby it’s still worthy of few moments before moving on.

Located within Piazza Benedetto Cairol, is this fairly simple fountain, (not a Bernini), however adds to the beauty of the square, which is frequented by locals and the odd inquisitive tourist. Worth a visit when in the area, plenty of seating for a rest.

Piazza d'Aracoeli is a nice little piazza, with some greenery, but it is dominated by the big Piazza Venezia and it's in the shadow of that huge Monument, the Vittorio Emanuele II edifice. There is not much you can do in the small piazza, except walk around for about two minutes and then you are done.
