Top ways to experience Passeggiata del Gianicolo and nearby attractions
The area
Neighbourhood: Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

For a wonderful walk with an excellent view over Rome, near Trastevere (Via Garibaldi) and stroll to the monument of Garibaldi, here is il parco del Gianicolo; quit and peaceful tour in the ceter of Rome.

Stunning view over Rome and a nice way to get some exercise. Walk up from one side and down the other. If you like jazz there are live music nearly every day through summer and if you are here with kids there’s a small fairground near by.

Nice area for walks and to visit Janiculum Hill, a fifteen-minute walk up Via Garibaldi from the place di Sant' Egidio to the summit of the Janiculum Hill with the most beautiful view of the center of Rome; the place is dedicated to Garibaldi's defence of the Roman Republic of 1849; to admire the equestrian monument of Garibaldi.

This hill has one of the best panoramic views of the city. Along with the spectacular views, there are a few monuments and fountains along the route to visit. A trek here took us out of the normal touristy spots of the city.

We had been told about this place from so many people that we had to check it out. This place offers an unobstructed panoramic view of the city and is located in Janiculum which is the second-tallest hill in the western part of Rome.
We decided to hike up but many people drive it as the hill is pretty steep and it could get a little annoying in the heat but we managed and it was a good time. You pass through Roman garden, surrounded by gorgeous flowers, tall trees and even a chicken.
Definitely worth it and definitely recommended AND ITS FREE!

The view, particularly at sunset, is nice. It is not spectacular or awe-inspiring - but it is a nice way to see how the city is laid out. It is a fairly steep climb, and probably best to arrive by car or bus. We walked down into Trastavere, which worked out fine.

A little bit of an uphill trek, but once you get up, there's a great view of the city from above. Worth the walk

It is best to walk along this path from Lungotevere to Gianicolo to enjoy the views that gradually open up and not miss the historic squares and monuments. This is a bit exhausting but quite worthwhile. Once you reach the destination, Gianicolo Hill, you can rest and then go down from the other side.

I have to tell the truth, I was a bit disappointed, perhaps I was full of expectations, but anyway the atmosphere is not 100 100, let's say a 60 60.
