The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the centre, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighbouring Borgo, Prati is a local favourite for its aesthetic organisation and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.

A lovely feast for the eyes
Jul 2020 • Friends
We stopped because we wanted to buy some fruit and some vegetables.
This covered market located in the heart of the most commercial part of the Prati district has almost everything.
Fruits, vegetables, plants, flowers, groceries, bread, meats, fish and even products for cleaning the house.
It is a feast for the eyes.
Very attractive to look at.
Perhaps a little less attractive for its prices, which are definitely higher than those ones in the Roman supermarkets.
Not all the booths are open, and the feeling of emptiness is disappointing.
We recommend to visit it if you have some spare time and you are in the area.

Apr 2019 • Couples
This is a very old market located in the Via Cola di Rienzo, were local people are going for their daily shopping. Great assortment of purveyors of fresh produce, flowers, meats, fish cheeses, nuts, cold cuts, etc. They have a very welcoming and friendly sellers. If you are in Prati or Vatican area the Mercato dell'Unita is a place to visit.

Not worth spending time on. Half of the booth are closed. Sorry for the ones that still are there.
I don’t find the anything of the food shown on the photos of this location. I think they maybe are from dome restaurant.

Ideal place to do the shopping: fruits, vegetables, nuts, cheeses, bread, chicken, fish, meat. Everything is a high standard. Special mention to sellers, who are kind, smiley, friendly and warm =D

Good market in Prati
Jun 2016 • Solo
This covered market is on busy Via Cola di Rienzo in the Prati district, on the side of the Tiber River where the Vatican is located. I went to the market several times because it was close to my hotel, and bought fresh fruit to take away. Besides fruit, there are vegetables, meat, fish, etc.---including reasonably priced store merchandise such as kitchen gadgets. There is a small cafe on one side of the main entrance off Via Cola di Rienzo, and on the other side is a tiny but well-stocked convenience store. The main aisle of the market runs through to the back entrance onto a quiet square.
I liked the fact that the market is spacious but not sprawling. All the aisles are quite wide and have colourful banners hanging down from above. Even though carved into the top over both entrances are the words "Mercato Rionale," the actual name is Mercato dell'Unita. (The small square behind is Piazza dell'Unita.) If you look up over the front and back entrances, you'll see the date of construction (1928; built during Mussolini's time). When I was there about five or six times, I didn't see tourists---just local people going about their daily shopping.
