The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.

There is so much in the Sistine Chapel. So much to see, to experience and to decode....and after seeing this show, I understand so much more of what is there.
A very good dance troupe, excellent light show, computer generated graphics of Rome and it's decline....
Outstanding.
I went the morning of the show and got tickets at the door. No problem at all....but if I was with a group, there may have not been enough good seats. I was solo and was seated smack dab centre, halfway back, could not have been better seats.
I have one minor complaint which stops me from giving a 5 star rating. The show is presented in Italian (understandably) and I had the English headphones. Which were good, but the audio in Italian was so loud, I often couldn't hear the English in the headbuds. Its a small quibble and could be due to my failing hearing, but there you go.
Don't rush out after the show ends. The Chapel is projected on thee screens for quite awhile afterwards and you can 'experience' the Sistine Chapel from the comfort of your seat.

Multimedia show that gives an insight into the creation of the Sistine Chapel as we know it today. It starts with Michelangelo being summoned to the pope and given the order to paint the Sistine Chapel. What follows then is a walk through the main paintings and how these might have been conceived by Michelangelo and created. We enjoyed the show as it gave us a different perspective before our visit to the Sistine Chapel this time around. Given that there is very little time in the Sistine Chapel itself and it is not so easy to view the paintings in depth, the show highlighted key elements that enhanced our subsequent experience of the Sistine Chapel. Our show was in Italian as the English language show had finished for the season. We got the audio guide which played along side the Italian live dialogue. Because the music and sound effects were very loud, the translation was sometimes hard to understand. To be honest the volume of the live show could have been turned down and it still would have been quite loud enough.
We received discounts for the show via the our booking for the Vatican garden visit, but could have also gotten a discount via a Rome travel card, the ROMA pass, for example. It is worth asking for. Also worth knowing is that shows during the week are cheaper than on week-ends.
As to best seating for this show: it is worth seating towards the back in the middle otherwise you have to crane your neck to see the ceiling or have to turn around to the see the side walls.

This show is absolutely incredible and a great way to visually learn about Michelangelo and how he can to create the Sistine Chapel. The digital effects and other theater elements (music, acting, stage design, etc) were very impressive. The show overall was more than I expected it to be. I would highly suggest watching this show prior to visiting the Sistine Chapel. It will help you gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for what you are looking at when you are actually at the Sistine Chapel. Tickets are about €30 per person and the show is about an hour and a half. There is a small bar/food counter at the theater that you can grab a small sandwich and/or snacks in addition to drinks prior to watching the show. If this is something you want to do, be sure to arrive early to enjoy your snacks/drinks since there is no food allowed in the theater.

This show is absolutely unique! I loved all the projections and you really feel to be inside the Sistine Chapel.
And finally, something different to do in Rome, especially in the evening when there is no much else to do (excluding restaurants and bars). There are also shows during the day and the show lasts just over an hour so it can be squeezed before or after the visit of the real Sistine Chapel!

I am glad that we went to see Giudizio Universale to have a close look at the art work at Sistine Chapel which is very difficult to absorb when you are actually at site. But I was disappointed about lack of depth into Michelangelo's work since the focus was more on religious messaging which I neither agreed with nor was impressed with its creative delivery..! No wonder afterall it is Vatican sponsored..!!!!

We were able to see this as part of an event and didn't have to pay for it. I'm not sure I would have be pleased to have paid the admission price, but I am grateful for having seen it for free.

An amazing show, made of lights, colors, sounds and sensations that remain in your mind even after its finished. Some scenes leave you breathless, like the images of Rome across the centuries. The show illustrates in a simple, but not ordinary way, Michelangelo's frescoes that we’ve seen in the Vatican or in art books, so it is also recommended to those who are not experts. The theater is absolutely incredible and puts the spectator at the center of this magnificent show. Must see in Rome.

This was an interesting show. It was hyped up by our concierge as a wonderful show about how the Sistine Chapel was painted. There are references in the ads about consultation and research with the Vatican. All of this build up led us to believe that it would be a show that explored how Michelangelo physically painted the ceiling. It was not.

The show is entertaining, as there are projections all around the theater. However, it is not a show about painting the Sistine chapel, unless you believe it was painted by the actor being suspended on a wire while dancing around in mid-air. This is more a show about how it took a little bit to convince Michelangelo to take on the project.

Not interesting and not worth it at all. It is a nice break, but not something I would go out of our way to see.

Our kids liked it probably because of the mix between live action and the projections.

Before visiting the Vatican museum and seeing the Sistine chapel this mix of theatre and visual projection is perfect at telling the story behind the multiple artworks that create the chapel itself and the vision behind Michelangelo’s masterpiece
The younger children might get a little bored but fully recommend visiting
