I booked a day trip from Rome to Florence through Viator. Green line was the tour company. With less than 24 hours notice, I receive a note through my hotel that the tour is cancelled. No explanation. I tried to call, but it was after hours...I tried to contact Viator...nothing. Eventually I receive a "we will refund your money." Well,... More

We didn't have much time so we opted for Green Line instead of the big bus but please do not make this mistake....Big bus is a bit pricy but so much better in terms of service ! This is the worst hop and hop off ever with almost no audio ....half the time you can't hear it and the audio... More

First time we took the Pompeii tour which came to be surrealistic because of the scenery, the feeling and the old-tour guide we had who was obvious well informed about the history and the habits of old time. approx all day spent. We would like to spend more time to Napoli than getting to specific shop during the tour... Vatican... More

The first day in a new city, I like to take a hop on/hop off bus to get an introduction to the city and its layout. (I don't get off -- I just do a complete circuit.) In Rome, the bus I was on broke down in traffic near the Vatican. (It sounded like it was out of gas.) The... More

I highly recommend this agency. I booked with them for two tours whilst on a recent trip to Rome, because we were only there for two days and wanted to get the maximum out of the tour. We did the Rome by night which was magical, and then the more lengthy trip to Naples and Pompeii. They were informative and... More

we arrived in Rome and checked into our hotel around 2PM. Our travel agent suggested we do the bus tour to get acclimated. Turned out to be a great idea. The walk from our hotel to the nearest stop was a bit of a hike but once on the bus we sat back and enjoyed the ride and helpful commentary.... More

On 15 Nov we did this tour and were disappointed by the guide we had. She didn't give her name or greet us and the others on the bus. She seemed bored or depressed, like she disliked the job, and she was unhelpful. When one guest needed to go to the restroom on a 5 minute stop, a number of... More

This is one of the city's hop-on/hop-off buses. All of the 3 or 4 hop-on buses have the same 8 or 9 stops, and we happened to take this one, recommended by our hotel, near the train station. Excellent audio guides with earphones, in a variety of languages. Just plug in the the RCA jacks on the wall and find... More

We used this tour company to go on a day tour from Rome to Capri. We stopped in Naples to take a high speed boat to the island. The bus ride was fine. Our tour included many different languages which wasn't a problem but made it much less personal than other tours we've been on. We did one stop on... More

We booked an all day through Viator.com, a booking agency. Turns out that Greenline was the tour company. As indicated, we were picked up at our hotel and driven to the meeting point, so this was good. Finding the right bus was not as clear as we hoped, but luckily we found ours and proceeded to travel to the Vatican.... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
