My wife and I visited Rome with our three kids, ages 12, 11 and 9, and took two private tours, first to the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Forum, and the next day to the Vatican. Our guide for both was Paola Molinaro. From the moment we met her at our hotel, our kids were totally engaged, and she kept all of our attention for both afternoons as we visited some of the world's greatest historical sites and artwork. She adjusted the pace and content of the tours perfectly to ensure not only that the kids could understand and relate to what we were seeing, but also that my wife and I learned a lot as well. Despite the usual crowds at both locations, we were able to skip the entrance lines, and in the Vatican we were able to take the special exit from the Sistine Chapel directly into St. Peter's. Without Paola's guidance, we would have missed many interesting and important sights and background information--and I have no doubt that our kids would have been complaining about being dragged around for hours. Instead, we all had wonderful and enriching experiences that were highlights of our trip. As an added bonus, Paola is a great photographer and captured several excellent family shots! I highly recommend Eyes of Rome for families or anyone else looking for a great way to see the city.

My dear friends! Thanks for taking time to write this very nice review and for recommending me and Eyes of Rome! I'm very happy to hear that you and your kids enjoyed yourselves with me in Rome. In fact, we really had a good time together. I appreciated every single moment of the visit to the Colosseum. Your kids were so interested and curious about the history behind this magnificent site. As well as when we visited the Vatican Museums and the Basilica. Their surprise about the beauties of this site was touching. I always love to have interested kids as my guests and I really admire parents who expose their kids to travel and history. Come back soon, there is still so much to enjoy about this beautiful city!!! Ciao, Paola

Our family of 5 including 3 children ages 24, 21, and 16 had the absolutely best experience spending two days with Stefania of Eyes of Rome. We have traveled to multiple places in Europe, and have had many tours but I can honestly say that Eyes of Rome with Stefania was one of the best if not the best! In two days we toured the Colosseum, the Pantheon, as well as the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. The tour was informative and interesting, as well as fun. It's not often that you think you've made a friend for life and over lunch together and as we took our goodbye pictures we certainly felt that we were with a close friend. I would highly recommend Stafania and Eyes of Rome!

While in Rome we had the pleasure of taking a private tour of the Sistine Chapel with Simone. We are relatively familiar with renaissance art and Rome but taking a tour with Simone a guide with a doctorate from Oxford was an enjoyable stimulating experience. He was engaging, enlightening and very informative. His pace was energetic but not overwhelming. When we return to Rome we will utilize him again.

My family and I went to Rome last June (sorry, been busy). We took many of the tours and the guides were very good - this review is not about the guides. It is about the Eyes of Rome company. The guides told us that we could not pay with a credit card, even though we were told by the VRBO manager that booked the tours that we could. We let them know that it was not possible to pay with cash and then they made a phone call and we were able to pay with credit card. Here is the important part - they will run your card for ten Euros and tell you it is to make sure your credit card will work, and that you will get that back. Not so. Our credit card had several of these 10 Euro charges and I had to email and make phone calls to get the money back. I was also overcharged for a guided tour of the Colosseum that included areas that the guide knew was inaccessible at the time he purchased our tickets. Again, another time-consuming effort to get my money back. Even the girl behind the counter in the museum will (deliberately!) hand you the wrong change. Keep a very good eye on your money flow in Italy.

Dear guest, Thanks for your review and for sharing your experience with us. We are glad to hear that your guides satisfied your curiosity and your thirst for knowledge. As we have our guest’s interest and satisfaction at heart, always aiming to deliver the best possible service to our guests, we are truly puzzled to read your review and would love to clear up what we are sure to be a misunderstanding: When booking through third parties, such as in your case through your hotel concierge, our guests do not benefit from talking directly with us, giving us the chance to understand their needs, customize their tours, recommend best solutions and talk about payment policies. It is also important to make clear from our side that, differently than direct bookings through our website, for offline bookings like yours, we offer open tours only, meaning that our clients can decide their duration on the day of the tour by talking directly with their tour guide who will make sure to adapt the itinerary according to your interest and energy level. This is the reason why these services follow an hourly rate and for this reason the exact amount to be charged is calculated at the end of each experience. In no cases we charge any amount that has no been discussed and agreed with your guide on yìthe day of the tour. As we do not hold any credit card information from you until the day of the service, in order to avoid any type of credit card frauds, we are required to adopt a deposit rule before the start of each tour. From what we can see from your records, we have applied our standard procedure 2 times: on June 21st and June23rd your card was charged for an amount of 10 euros each, and the rest of the balance was charged by your guide at the end of the services. We don't have any evidence of an over charge nor records of tour extensions, thus the total amount we have from your card is the full amount agreed with your guide. With regard to your Colosseum tour on June 23rd, the Belvedere access of the Colosseum remained closed for all visitor. The opening or closing of any areas is regulated by the Colosseum’s administration only, and can sometimes happen without sufficient notice, due to either weather conditions or any unforeseen circumstances. However, on June 20th, as soon as we received the official note, your hotel concierge was informed by us about the imminent closing. The additional cost was of course detracted from the remaining balance you were due at the end of your tour. We feel truly and deeply sorry to hear your experience with us was not as expected, as we try our best to make each and everyone of our guests happy and satisfied. As we do not hold your contact details, should you need further clarifications or if any of the information above was not properly delivered to you at the time of your offline booking, we invite you to contact our customer service team, who will be very happy to go over each transaction with you and clear any doubt you may still have. Sincerely, The Eyes of Rome Team

Our private, tailor-made tour with Denis was undisputedly the best of the five other tours we took while in Rome. We requested three hours to see the Baths of Caracalla, the Palantine Hill and the Forum. We started early in the morning at the Baths and were virtually the only ones there for the first hour. It was magical! This place is not to be missed. Denis speaks excellent English, and is extremely knowlegable about art history and archeology. He is also very personable with an excellent sense of humor. He balanced just the right amount of historical information with memorable anecdotes, continually pointing out things we would have missed if on our own. He answered all our questions willingly with expertise. And when he discovered I was interested in horticulture, he made a point to show me unusual local plants! In short, we felt not only well cared for throughout the tour - he patiently adjusted his walking pace to ours - but also privileged to see Rome through his eyes. We learned so much and cannot recommend him highly enough. We hope to book him again in the future. We would also like to commend the excellent responses provided by Sara at Eyes of Rome to all our communications prior to our trip, as well as the drivers who picked us up at the hotel for every tour (we did three with Eyes of Rome). These tours are not inexpensive, but we feel they were worth every cent. The guides are real pros and the entire experience is streamlined to make it very easy, especially for older clients like us who do not speak Italian. Highly, highly recommend.

We spent a magical day with Stefania Pistone in Rome, soaking up the love she has for her city and its rich history. She shared her knowledge of ancient Rome with stories that made it come alive. She also took us places off the beaten path for a bite to eat or a glass of wine, giving the city a human touch as we met the proprietors and learned their stories, too. We dream of going back and re-visiting Stefania and her special places.

We took two private tours with Eyes of Rome over the holidays. Started with the early bird Vatican tour and then after we returned from a cruise, we signed up for a second private tour of the Colosseum/Forum. In both cases Alessia was our guide, and she was amazing. We learned so much about the different venues and went at our own pace. She answered all of our questions easily, and we left Rome feeling like she was an old friend. We have done private tours all around Europe with locals in various cities, and this experience is at the top of the scale.

Dear friends, I was very lucky to have such interested people as my guests!! Touring the Vatican Museums was fun and we had a great time together. The tour at the Colosseum, few days later, was also very nice. I really appreciated your questions and your curiosity about these sites. Thanks for your positive comments. Hope to see you soon back to this marvellous city! Ciao, Alessia

This was my daughters first visit to Rome and following her classics A level had a long bucket list of the standard and very non standard sights she wished to take in.
Stefania was fantastic, she put an itinerary together that delighted me daughter but also worked for the rest of us, her insights and storytelling made this an incredible trip for us all. We can not wait to return to Rome once the virus is beaten.

I had the good fortune of touring the Forum and Colosseum in Rome last September with Silvia Monti as my guide. I had been referred by friends who had toured with Silvia and was not disappointed. Silvia has a wealth of knowledge, excellent English skills and a direct and engaging personality. She enlivened the tour with special insights along the way, facts beyond those presented in the tourist guides. I recommend her highly, noting only that she is highly sought after as a guide so you should book her in advance with Eyes of Rome. I would certainly use Silvia again as a guide and hope to do so soon.
