    Trevi Fountain Without the Crowds
Enjoy this beautiful fountain with many hundreds of others during regular hours. Visit at 5:15am in mid to late spring and early summer with no more than a few dozen people at the fountain. Also, if it's raining late at night (past 10:30), brave the rain and get there - the place will also have few other visitors.

    Ankle-deep garbage.
Dear Rome, please take the money from the hotel tax and invest in garbage cans. There is a reason the Trevi Fountain is crowded; it's beautiful. That is until you look down and see all the garbage. There are empty water bottles and gelato cups everywhere around the fountain. It's such a shame. I blamed other tourists until I realized there are no garbage cans directly around the fountain, despite all the gelato shops. Where there are garbage cans they are inadequate and overflowing. Buy some garbage cans and pay someone to empty them!

There are tourists there ALL THE TIME!
We stayed in a nearby apartment and it was crazy busy in the morning afternoon and at midnight!! Go so that you can check the beautiful fountain off your To See list, but don't expect a private experience...crazy! Oh, and the gelato at nearby Mancuso was great!

    Stunning but too crowded
In June, it was inevitable that the fountain would be crowded. It's impossible to get a front row without slowly shuffling down behind a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd. Hang tightly to your wallet and hope you can get a spot. I didn't make it to the front, but did stop on the 2nd level was able to appreciate the grand fountain. Amazingly, people were drinking from the side fountain to the right. I walked to the fountain twice because it's that beautiful. Both times were uncomfortably crowded. Tip: go 2 alley's down for treats because the prices right around the fountain are greatly inflated.

    Wow!
Probably the most amazing Fountain in Rome and quite possibly the world. No matter what time you get there I am sure you will have a crowd. Plenty of tourists come in and out. The area offers plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. Legend has it if you toss a coin in the fountain, you will guarantee another trip to Italy. Done deal; I am coming back. The only downfall is the amount of people there sometimes leads to unruly, selfish behavior but just smile and move on.

    Such a beautiful spot!
Such an incredible structure and beautiful fountain! It’s crazy to think this little gem is just hidden away in between the busy streets of Rome! When you see it in person, it is simply breathtaking! We visited the Trevi fountain twice in the five days we stayed in Rome. We woke up at 6am one day to get there early as we had been recommended, however, even at 07:15am, the place was still crowded. On our last night we walked there on our route back to our hotel and saw it in all its glory at nighttime. The place was extremely crowded, but it just adds to the atmosphere! Just keep an eye out for pick pockets! Definitely worth a visit, and make sure you take a coin to toss in for luck 💕

Beautiful historic fountain, very romantic, must see in Rome!
Beautiful historic fountain, very romantic, must see in Rome! This place can get really very crowded where everyone is struggling to get their pictures / selfies clicked. Turing your back and trowing a coin is a ritual too and the belief is that you'll be able to visit Rome & Trevi again! Suggest visit earlier in the morning or late at night, not that it'll be secluded but the crowds will be a bit lesser. Also, the view / beauty is very different in the morning at the time of sunrise and in the night with all the lights lighting these fountains.

    Beautiful but crowded
If you don't like crowds you will want tp go really early in the morning. We went at about 5 PM on a Sunday and it was so crowded we had to politely push our way closer to the fountain to toss our coin. Beautiful architecture and worth seeing while in Rome.

    Beautiful
A truly magnificent location, which was rightly high on our list of things to see while we were in Rome. Best to go early in the morning or later in the evening (due to crowds) but can obvioulsy be accessed 24/7. We combined with the Spanish Steps on a Saturday evening and had no problems getting some great pics.

    Go see despite the crowds
It is larger than life and all you have seen in pictures. Awesome and gorgeous. SO crowded with people on a summer day that you can barely get close enough for a picture. Worth a visit in off season or go very early or late. Despite all of that I would not have missed it?

Amazing to see, but it is very very very busy, so will struggle to get to the front.

Shame so many want to do multiple insta photos but that is the way.

Kids loved to see it and wanted to see it again.

Plus its free.... one of the few places in Rome

So we thought we would be clever and get there at 6am

Well it was rammed.
The fountain line was five deep, Engagement proposals, wedding dress photo shots, want to be models having photo shots, insta social media girdl taking 40 pictures one after another. The surrounding cafes don't open till 7am and the queues start queuing at 630am, especially the ones with seating facing the fountain

It is rammed no matter the time of day
We walked through at 3pm for ice cream, rammed, had to push our way through.
Walked down at night and it was the busiest we had seen

Rome is truly amazing. It's a must visit destination in Europe. We have been to Rome three times and each time we visited the Trevi Fountain and threw in a coin. Therefore, it must be true that if you throw a coin in the fountain, you will return.

Not what I expected. The fountain is quite pretty but unless you get there early or late you will struggle to appreciate it due to the crowds. This area is filled with people trying to sell you beads, cheap toys or fake paintings which they prop to look as though they have painted them themselves. Watch the bead vendors, if they get a bracelet on your arm they will then demand payment despite them telling you its free gift. Rome was a big dissapointmet full of people trying to sell you goods you didn't want, to women begging on the streets with their children. We stayed three days and were nearly mugged on the tube and saw nemerous tourists upset after being mugged. Watch out if on the tube and someone attempts to get on last minute being stuck between the doors. This is to put you off guard so you try and help them, they then take your wallet or phone and pull back as the train leaves them on the platform you without your wallett

A must see
It is magical
Early morning for less crowds but also seeing it at any time of the day or night is worth it.
I could stare at the statues all day they are incredible.
People watching is definitely worth it!
For a sneaky overview head into the Benetton store and go up to level 1 - through the windows you’ll see over everyone.
We were actually shopping and found this!
Forno - go here for panini & treats - be ready for queues early on Sundays!
Don’t miss this in Roma

What a stunning landmark: very crowded but such a great sight. Absolutely worth visiting! Steeped in history, a big connection to other sights here too.

Of all Rome’s 300+ fountains, this is the largest, the most fabulous and the most famous.
The Trevi Fountain is right in the heart of Rome so we often walked past just so that we could see it again. It’s very lovely at night when the lights come on and it’s quietest, first thing in the morning.
It is always daunting when you first approach the fountain because there’s never anything less than a heaving crowd. You can’t imagine that you’re going to be able to see anything more than the heads and backs of the people in front of you. However, I’ve learnt that very few linger for very long and if I’m patient, I can almost always get a spot close to the water.
Close-up, it really is very beautiful. Oceanus, god of seas and oceans, stands centre-stage on a shell-like chariot surrounded by trumpeting Tritons and wild, winged sea-horses.
It’s worth noting that its illegal to stick arms, legs or water bottles into the fountain.

If you want to avoid heavy crowds during late Spring/Summer, I suggest you go at sunrise where are there fewer people and you can get better shots of this iconic IG moment…..must experience 🤗
