Neighbourhood: Piazza Venezia / Ancient City
If all roads lead to Rome, then they all end here. Piazza Venezia and the Ancient City are the very epicenter of the Eternal City. Within a 360-degree turn, Roman history unrolls in front of you, from its ancient beginnings to its 21st century transformations. Whether it’s those historical playgrounds known as the Roman and Imperial Forums, or the side-street shops, trattorie, and churches, this neighbourhood packs a cultural punch and then some. Screaming scooters, battling buses, crazy cars, and lots of foot traffic converge in the area all day long. By dusk, a different vibe emerges as the neighbourhood quiets down. Don't be surprised if you find yourself passing through the Piazza Venezia at least once a day, since it’s the most direct way to get from one side of town to another.

Sadly, the ability to walk around this monument is limited. Still it's an impressive site and a great landmark.

Amazing Views
Oct 2021
The Vittorio is a magnificent neo-classical structure (though apparently most Romans hate it!) built as a monument to King Vittorio Emanuele II; the tomb of the unknown soldier is also buried here. We didn't visit the exhibitions inside, our purpose was to access the panoramic glass elevator which offers the most incredible views over the Forum, Colosseum & beyond, particularly at sunset. Utterly stunning vistas, we highly recommend it. The elevator costs 7 euros & there is also a nice panoramic bar for drinks.

Great view for sunset, if they are open
Sep 2021 • Couples
Great view over Forum Romanum, Colosseum, and Rome as a whole. Best place to watch the sunset, however they are closing up right before in Sept at 7pm… feels like a waste. When I was there in May and October, they were still open at sunset. Drinks at the Café are not really good and overpriced

BONUS THE LIFT WAS FREE
Nov 2020
There is a museum inside and also a lift that will take on top that was free on the day. Some great views.

Visible Landmark in Rome

We didn't go in but you can see it's iconic chariot statues throughout central Rome. Our guide called it the "wedding cake."

Stunning view
Jul 2021
The view from the south side of the monument is amazing at sunset. There is a bar available and you can go to the top if you pay for the elevator.

National Italian pride
Jul 2021
It was built in honor of the founder of Italian republic, now a striking spectacular showcase. There are superb bronze structures on each side and the Italian flag is proudly up.

This monument is a cool museum to go into, cool to look at from various vantage points, and cool to walk around with so many amazing sides and nearby things.
