Go here. It actually tops St Peters. The holy door.... we had a virgin mary statue blessed by an absolutely lovely priest. Once in a lifetime beautiful shop run by the nuns with lovely things in it.

this beautiful arch basilica is not so big, but beautiful in its simplicity, it was not so crowded when we got there, so we had time to simply sit down and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the building..

We visited this Arcbasilica on November 14th. The closest Metro stations is San Giovanni. This basilica is not as crowded as St. Peter's is. Although there are not any stained glasses this church offers a lot of to see. After you passed the security check the first thing that you will see is the Holy Door of this Arcibasilica. In... A beautiful church, I am always amazed at the architecture of the old churches, I find it fascinating that they were built centuries ago without modern tools and equipment. I am grateful for all the people who have maintained them so we could enjoy them today.

You know that moment on your European vacation when you plead, "Please no more churches"? Well you should see this one before you get to that point. If you're a Christian, this is the first church of the Christendom. If you're of another faith or none, the immense proportions of this cathedral is awe-inspiring. From the huge bronze door (a... In this church you can see sculpture of Moses made by genius Michelangelo for free. That reason only should be enough to visit the place.

The Archbasilica of St John in Lateran goes back to the time of emperor Constantine. It is a complex consisting of the magnificent Basilica, the octagonal Baptistery, the Holy Steps and the Papal university. It gives both a cultural and spiritual experience.

This is the cathedral of Rome and well worth a visit. It is down by the old city walls and is walkable from the Colosseum area. Nearby you can find the Sacred Stairs as well. The inside is really just as over the top as St Peters.
