Our tour guide Roberta was amazing! We went to 7 different restaurants/cafes and we had so much fun. On the menu was cheese, prosciutto, polenta, fried artichokes, pizza, pasta, porchetta, gelato, wine, expresso/cappuccino and much more. Roberta was very accommodating to one of the girls in the group who needed to stay away from gluten and gave us a little... More

We really wanted to get a feel for the area we were staying in so we had booked 2 tours with Food Tours of Rome. We did the Jewish Ghetto (already reviewed) on the Friday night and the Monti Tour Saturday morning. Only 3 of us with Marta, and Roberta along assisting for part of the tour. Once again our... We did the Jewish Ghetto and Piazza Navona tour and couldn't have had a better time. The food was to die for, the wine was delicious, the places we stopped at were local, non-touristy establishments and our guide was so informative and friendly. This tour was one of the highlights of our quick trip to Italy. Word of warning: do... More

A guided food tour, what is that? Well, the thought of "eating and drinking" through Rome centre were somewhat a funny but it really exceeded all expectations. Good food, great guideance and a very interesting story of both Rome and Italy and its regions. Great evening and definatly worth both the money and time. :)

I was concerned to do a food tour in Rome because I cannot eat any gluten. All i can say is, that didn't matter with this tour group. Our tour guide Jess was over the top accommodating. She made the experience and true culinary experience. I highly recommend this tour for everyone!!!'

Staying in Ghetto

Neighbourhood Profile
The mini-neigbourhood Ghetto holds tight to its reputation as a stand-alone area thanks to its nearly 300-year history as the home to Rome’s Jewish community. Times changed in the 20th century, but the tiny area still retains its mix of tradition, community, and history. Ancient and medieval architectural design frames apartments, bakeries, shops, and restaurants. Friends and families are the pulse of the neighbourhood, keeping company on the Via del Portico d’Ottavia. The Ghetto observes the traditional Jewish Shabbat: businesses close from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.
