I was concerned to do a food tour in Rome because I cannot eat any gluten. All i can say is, that didn't matter with this tour group. Our tour guide Jess was over the top accommodating. She made the experience and true culinary experience. I highly recommend this tour for everyone!!!'

We did the Jewish Ghetto food tour with Roberta and had an amazing time! We loved all of the food that we ate and were so full by the end we could barely walk! Being there in the off season in November, we were a small group, which we think made the tour even better. We appreciated the historical and... More

Looked forward to this tour and it did not disappoint! Our tour guide was Roberta, and she was absolutely lovely, making my husband and I very comfortable. She was friendly, made sure we were taken care of, and made sure we were stuffed!! Took us to several restaurants and introduced us to great regional roman dishes. We enjoyed learning about... More

Our Guide Roberta was terrific! We visited some amazing restaurants, delis and cafés. Rome has an amazing history, and it was so interesting to learn about the culture through the food. Highly recommended!

We had traveled all night from the US West Coast but based on other reviewers recommendation we decided to persevere and book this tour for our first night in Rome (and our first time to Rome) and we are so happy we did! What a great way to see Rome for the first time walking through alleys (which are streets)... More

I would recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your holiday, if it is your first time in Rome. It was a great introduction to the city of Rome, including the history, language and food. Our tour guide, Cosimo, was very professional and presented the information in a logical and friendly manner. The amount of food given to us... More

We had Marta as our guide and she was excellent. It was just two of us on the tour so we got so much out of the tour. We did the tour at the beginning of our stay in Rome so we had a good idea where to eat for the rest of our trip. It was lovely to walk... More

Staying in Ghetto

Neighbourhood Profile
The mini-neigbourhood Ghetto holds tight to its reputation as a stand-alone area thanks to its nearly 300-year history as the home to Rome’s Jewish community. Times changed in the 20th century, but the tiny area still retains its mix of tradition, community, and history. Ancient and medieval architectural design frames apartments, bakeries, shops, and restaurants. Friends and families are the pulse of the neighbourhood, keeping company on the Via del Portico d’Ottavia. The Ghetto observes the traditional Jewish Shabbat: businesses close from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.
