The Coppedè District (Quartiere Coppedè), which includes the fountain of the frogs, is a small area in Rome consisting of 18 palazzos and 27 villas, buildings and public works set around Piazza Mincio. It is absolutely unique compared to all other parts of the city. Designed by the visionary Gino Coppedè and built during the 1920’s it incorporates multiple different but complementary architectural styles and comprises a harmonious vision that really has to be seen to be believed. Easily viewable in 20-30 minutes it really is a breathtaking and unique experience amongst the attractions of this ancient city.

A visit to Quartiere Coppedè in the Trieste district (northern part of Rome) with its frog fountain on the Piazza Mincio, spider bedecked Palazzo del Ragno, and assortment of fanciful architectural styles, including ancient Greek, Roman Baroque, Mannerist, Medieval, and, Art Nouveau, each created between 1919 and 1927 by Florentine architect Gino Coppedè gave us an enchanted afternoon. The Art Nouveau palaces brim with floral, mythological and medieval details, and towers with mosaics and frescoes are eye feasts. If you love architecture, you’ll relish this place.

If you love Art Nouveau style, this neighborhood is absolutely worth discovering. The details of the buildings captivate with their imagination and richness. The most beautiful buildings are concentrated around the frog fountain, so it doesn't take much time to see them all. However, the area is very quiet, far from the tourist chaos so it's really a pleasure to come here.

This corner of the Trieste district should have been called Dora but the architect who designed it, the Florentine Gino Coppedè, executed a project so exclusive that today we know it by its name. Its incredible architectural language shows buildings that boldly mix different styles, making it the eclectic neighborhood par excellence, an authentic pearl of Rome. The fulcrum of the neighborhood is Piazza Mincio where, in addition to the beautiful fountain of Frogs, overlook the buildings richer in decorations and imaginative symbols that testify to the immense creativity of Coppedè. Recommended a walk with various stops to better appreciate every single detail.

My trip to Rome was a 10 out of 10! It was a great trip and culinary experience. All that scam hysteria I had heard was not a problem at all, as long as you are aware of your things and surroundings. It felt safe, even at night. It was nice weather, but you have to be robust to handle the many people, as well as the heat and humidity, which sometimes can be too much! Fortunately, Rome has plenty of cafes and kiosks where you can get a cold drink and get on your legs again. It is not always we found a small drinking fountain, so mostly we bought our water. I will definitely go to Rome again - but recommend parents to be careful to take their children with them, if they are not used to many people and a sticky heat.

It is a different sector of Rome. Outside the center which is what is generally visited. A harmonious place.
It is a residential, quiet place, a stone's throw from Viale Regina Margarita and not far from via Nomemtana.

We walked into gardens from Piazza del Pappio. Strolled the gardens and walked toward these beautiful homes. 20-25 minutes through park into the quarter. The homes are stunning architecture and a few embassy’s in area. nice area to see and enjoy.

I had been to Rome for a week several years ago, but had a couple day layover on a trip to Egypt and took the time to see this quirky little neighborhood. It’s full of architectural gyms. Well worth a visit in my opinion if you’ve already seen all the usual bus, he must do stuff in Rome.

Quartiere Coppedè is an area with interesting, fun and magical architecture built 1913-1927, by architect Gino Coppedè, (1866-1927).

The best way to approach Quartiere Coppedè is from Via Tagliamento and then onto Via Dora, walk under the spectacular arch, then onto the circular Piazza Mincio, it has Fontana delle Rane, (Fountain of the the Frogs) in the middle. Surrounding this circular piazza has the greatest concentration of these magnificent, whimsical buildings, with names like, Villino delle Fate/Villas of the Fairies and Palazzo del Ragno/Palace of Spiders. There are more buildings by Coppedè located on Via Bretna, Via Ombrone, Via Serchio and Via Olana, all these streets are within easy walking distances and all connect to each other.

The arch is very grand, with the Medici Coat of Arms and other embellishments, including a huge wrought iron chandelier. The 1976 movie, The Omen in the first six minutes shows Gregory Peck entering through the arch and arriving at his home on Piazza Mincio 2.

Fontana delle Rane/Fountain of the Frogs, is lovely, built 1924 by Gino Coppedè. The lower basin has pairs of figures supporting a shell shaped basin and above is another basin with frogs perched on the edge. The Beatles played at the nearby Piper Club, apparently after their performance they jumped in this fountain fully clothed.

It is possible to spend hours here looking at the wonderful detail on these buildings. We walked to this area and then caught a bus back from Via Tagliamento, which is serviced really well with buses. Tram #3 & #19 to Buenos Aires, is close by as well. If in the area, Catacombe di Priscilla is only a hop, skip and a jump away, which is a fantastic site and worth the detour.

Can't remember where I heard about this place, but the appeal was exaggerated! It is simply four elaborately adorned apartment/office buildings on the corner. That's it. They sure do look nice, but again, it's just four buildings. You'll spend more time getting there than gawking the architecture. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.
