This is a must neighborhood to see and the best way to expand your knowledge and treat your taste buds. The groups are small with excellent guides (we've been more than once). They find you the "authentic" locations that as a tourist you may not be comfortable trying on your own - or be able to find. The evening is... More

We did the food tour with Francesco our last day. It was an amazing experience, but we should have done this the first day. SO many places we would have eaten more at, and amazing foods we would have sought out.

Nice tour of a great area. We stayed after in the neighborhood and came back the next night. So many fun bars and restaurants! Not as much history on this tour... but the food was tasty. I think the Testaccio tour is better but this is a great introduction to the neighborhood. You meet some nice vendors and a wonderful... More

What a wonderful way to immerse oneself in non-touristy Rome! We thoroughly enjoyed our 4-hour walking food tour of Testaccio that we took before our transatlantic cruise. Our guide was terrific and every stop was not only tasty but interesting and informative. We didn't have a lot of time in Rome and this tour helped us maximize the time we... More

We booked this food tour for our first night in Rome. It was amazing and Luca was a fun and knowledgeable guide. The food was seriously amazing and we were beyond full at the end. Loved all of the restaurants we visited and went back to several during our stay. It is well worth the money.

Last night my wife and I indulged in food, wine, and laughs. Marco Lori created an experience for us that was unimaginable and life changing. Teaching us more about wine, regions and how to pair them with food. Marco's obvious love for wine is brought to reality as you sit and talk with him sharing stories and life experiences, enhanced... We just had the most amazing experience with Marco from the Italian Food and Wine Pairing Tour! Marco was so professional and knowledgeable about the wine and the whole experience was eye opening! I would highly recommend this Food Tour to anyone seeking a great Italian cultural experience. Each course was amazing and I am so glad that we now... More

Hi Jill and Ellie! We are so happy that you enjoyed our Italian Food and Wine Pairing with Marco! Marco loves showing our guests the difference between the wines and showing them through taste just how much of a difference the correct wine can make with a meal! We hope that you were able to enjoy some more delicious wine... More

Wow! Be ready to eat and eat well! Do not wait to sign up for this tour. My husband loved every minute of it, as did I. Francesco was our guide and was awesome! Very personable and full of pride and knowledge of this great neighborhood. You get to eat your way through some family-owned businesses who clearly take pride... More

We took the Saturday night dinner and wine pairing with sommelier Marco Lori. Marco is not just a mere sommelier, he has an advanced degree, and it shows in his enthusiasm for his subject. We tasted six wonderful wines with six delicious courses. Marco picked his wines with an eye (or palate) towards making the pairings meaningful. All the wines... More

We did this tour on our first evening in Rome. It was the best introduction to Rome. The food in each of the seven venues was delicious and our guide Lucca was friendly, fun and gave us loads of historical context to Rome. He told great stories and gave advice about being a visitor in Rome.

Staying in Testaccio

Neighbourhood Profile
Testaccio
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighbourhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
