Having a tour guide for the Vatican museum and the Sistine chapel also gave us quick access to the St. Peter's basilica. If you want to get in without a tour guide you are facing a three hour wait in the burning sun. The tour costs €47,- per person and will take you to the Vatican museum, the Sistine chapel... More

Excellent guided tour by Ekaterina, a Russian guide who spoke excellent English. She was very informative and enthusiastic. We were able to go right in, skipping the long lines. Very knowledgeable about the art. We took the afternoon tour, and the only issue with that was that by the time we got to St Peters basilica, there was limited time... More

It was extremely disappointing, we booked the tour for 9am and when we arrived at 8:30 we found the office was not even open! We were told it was a Vatican museum and city tour, it was not. Out "English" speaking guide finally showed up at 10am and stood us all beside a generator and started talking in a heavy... More

We chose the "Skip the Line Vatican & museum tour--small group"...amazing! Worth it! We started at a meeting place nearby at 7:45 am, were divided into multiple small similar language speaking groups, walked directly to security to enter the country: Vaticano...and did NOT have to wait in the forever-n-day line outside the Vatican. Our guide was eloquent, knowledable and very... More

Stefania Cinotti can be contacted through e-mail at stefania.cinotti@gmail.com. Stefania was recommended to us through our travel agent. She had used her last summer and also had her grandson with her. Stefania was the guide for my daughter, son-in-law, their 12 year old twins, my husband and myself. She met us at our hotel, we got a cab and went... More

We went to visit the Vatican museum on Monday, hired a great local guide just for the 2 of us. Her knowledge was unbelievable and a reasonable price. The words can't describe the beauty of this place. In a funny way they are lots of tourists that they are there just for the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter cathedral. But... More

We opted for a guided tour before the general public gained entrance to the Vatican. The group leader was fun, knowledgeable and friendly. We had a the quick tour that lead us to the Sistine Chapel. On the way key things were pointed out to the group. Once inside the chapel it was breath taking. There were a few small... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
