I can state the obvious at to what this is and how important, but I prefer to simply state that the multiple churches and the Trappist beer vastly exceeded my expectations. It is off the usual tourist path, so some practical information follows. Get to Laurentia metro then walk westward from the station about 100m to the main road. Catch... More

A previous reviewer has said that they were disappointed, this area is really not your Roman tourist destination, its for a religous themed trip, you will really enjoy this place if you are religous as the churches are very much authentic and unspoilt, the tourist hotspots ie the Vatican are badly spoilt by too many tourists and ticket touts and... One of the few Cistercian monasteries in Rome. It is mainly visited by reli-tourists, but art and architecture lovers will be rewarded too. Great piece of architecture, the main church.

Nice place surrounded by nature and small walking path. Has frescoes inside and it is an interesting place to visit if you have time. For those who like churches and history.

We went with our tour group and I will recommend a visit to anyone traveling to Rome. The Abbey is a short drive outside the Roman wall. You can feel the reverence and serenity as you experience the final journey of St. Paul.
