Piazza Del Risorgimento is a good place to stop and take a load off while in Rome. We enjoyed our picnic lunch here in the shadow of the Vatican City wall. There's a lot of hustle and bustle around and through the piazza with cars and trams. There's nothing particularly scenic or picturesque about this piazza but it's a good... More

This is not a scenic place, but it is highly functional. This is a main team and bus stopping point for the Vatican. Don't come here for any other reason

This is a rather unremarkable square located near the Vatican. The oddly shaped square featured nothing spectacular, but a small market selling local food.

This is a good piazza near the Vatican - you can spend some time here, take rest and enjoy the atmosphere around.

We stayed in Un Caffe Sul Balcone 2, 20 Piazza Risorgimento, for three nights. A second floor, 2 bedroom apartment with a balcony overlooking the square. It is a perfect location with most of the major attractions within walking distance. The balcony is great for observing the everyday life of Rome. Everything from the man with a dog trying to... This is a large square in the Prati district, across the street from the walls of the Vatican City. It's also on the main tourist route from the Ottaviano Metro station to the entrance for the Vatican Museums, so it sees a lot of traffic, but fortunately not many tourists linger in the square. There are some souvenir shops and... More

There is nothing particularly attractive arhitecturally abotu the square, except perhaps for the fact you can see the walls of the Vatican from there. The square is always busy, lots of traffic and lots of pedestrians and people selling souvenirs. I did notice a big variation in prices for similar souvenirs (key rings, magnets etc) so shop around before making... More

My GF and i visited this place in may 2016. I ordered a pizza which was mediocre, she received a plate of pasta that tasted of canned food, that was just one big plate of mush, she could not eat it, neither could i. On my way to their toilet - which was in the basement, i passed the "kitchen"... More

Gelato at the small cafe on piazza del risorgimento costs a FORTUNE and is nothing special... 9 euro for two scoops in a cup... they are having a laugh.

A nice square, very convenient to take a rest after the visit to Vatican City and all its treasures. There is a bunch of restaurants, bars and shops where you can have a decent lunch or buy a souvenir.

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
