I arrived in Rome on February 14th. It would have been rude not to find St Valentine's skull. So glad I did. The mosaic on the wall of the little gift shop is amazing, the different coloured patterned floor is unusual & of course St...More

Smallish church and slightly different to many others that you see in Rome. Very atmospheric with some Greek style wall art. Also houses the skull of St Valentine. Worth popping in if you are passing.

An old brick church, with a high, slender, rectangular bell tower. The only thing that makes it somehow interesting is that close to its entry you can find Bocca della Verita.

This church was near our rental and we roamed in for a look, and had to get our photo taken in the same place Cary Grant did in an old movie. Not real exciting and we looked like genuine tourists. Some tourists get charged to...More

Our primary reason for visiting here was to see the ‘Mouth of Truth’ (reviewed separately) however, I would recommend seeing Santa Maria in Cosmedin more highly than the ‘Mouth of Truth’! Upon entering (Ladies, please ensure you have covering for your shoulders and you aren’t...More

Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is
Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork
of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and
embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the
vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around
the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of
surprises like the clever little keyhole at the
Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find
