Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Mario has an amazing knowledge of Italian and European art, architecture and history and first hand experience working with the Italian government archeological entities. I have attended about 15 of his virtual tours in both English and Italian, on a range of topics including Pompei, the Sistine chapel, the San Severo chapel in Naples, the Caserta Palace, the Quirinale, the Pantheon, the Vatican, castles in Wales, etc. He situates the tour geographically and typographically and provides an fascinating discussion supported by selected pictures. His virtual tours are even more interesting than first hand visits in some ways, and are excellent value for money!

We went for some tours in the past with Mario and due to the quarantine we decided to take the opportunity to join the online tour that he is arranging in this period. It was a great experience and we had a great time following the story of this masterpiece from Rome and across Europe. Murders, fakes, law suits and a lot of misery to be guided through by your private guide. We really spent a nice evening. Now looking forward to seeing the Vatican palace. Don't forget to bring your glass of wine to accompany you along the way!!!

Mario showed us the marvels of Rome and its rich history in three days what would on our own have taken 5 days to see. He is knowledgeable and paints his descriptions of Rome with a remarkable sense of humor. He provided convenient transportation when to and from the airport and as needed as part of the tour.

I was lucky enough to have Mario as a guide for my time in Rome recently - one of the best travel experiences I have had. He was so welcoming, knowledgable, and fun to be around, and made my time in the city an absolute delight, with perfect suggestions for the best places to eat and drink. Not only is Mario a fantastic host, but he's also incredibly knowledgable and charismatic, with a tour of the Vatican Museum and Basilica a true highlight, blending detail and narrative expertly. Booking with the Grand Tour is an absolute must if you are visiting Rome, thank you to Mario for such a fantastic experience!

After the pandemic stopped most foreign travel, I took several "virtual tours" with Mario through the Weekend in Italy web site. His knowledge base of history seems limitless and the many images we looked at were thoughtfully prepared. He fills out the tour with many anecdotes that help bring the places, people and art to life. After I took the first tour on "Secrets of the Sistine Chapel" I immediately signed up for two others. None have disappointed. During this period in which we're forced to be armchair travelers, I can think of nothing more pleasurable than these virtual trips to Italy guided by Mario. Highly recommend!

The way Mario guides adults and kids through the world of art is unique and fascinating. Apart from an extensive knowledge of the subject, he is able to captivate his audience with his vivid interest and the uniqueness of his way of diving into the facts and events representing the background of each masterpiece. I have never seen anybody mastering the details and the biographies of artists as Mario. My kids are always enchanted by Mario’s presentations and explanations. This is a five star artistic experience. Highly recommended.

Mario was engaging and professional from the booking process through to the end of the tour. He was able to read the mood of the 2 couples and immediately joined right in with our senses of humor. His knowledge of history and the city of Rome was refreshing. I recommend him very highly.

My Husband and I have been invited to enjoy this wonderful virtual tour of The Sistine Chapel. We are Italians, and in this period of time We are living overseas. This amazing opportunity allowed us to enjoy the stunning italian gems with the comfort of our home admiring beauty virtually. We went phisically several times to the Sistine Chapel, but thanks to Mario's passion and knowledge, we had the chance to appreciate more details than ever before. The innumerables treasures and hints hidden in the frescoes, are better exposed in that innovative digital way. Mario let us absorbe the magnificent of this astonishing Church, never leaving aside any question or doubt. Thank you Mario for your professionality, We look forward to attend another tour with you, hopefully, not only virtually.

Mario has magically whisked me from my sofa to Italy with the quarantine talks. He's entertaining and extremely knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the opportunity to see up close so many of the sites that I've visited in person. These tours have made me appreciate the artistry of Italy even more. Brava!

I recently discovered Mario Bernardi's virtual tours of Italy's favorite destinations and magnificent art works. His vast knowledge of Italian history and art, together with his mastery of Google Earth, Google Maps, Google Street View, 360 degree pictures and video resources bring his virtual tours to life. I strongly recommend his virtual tours to anybody who loves Italy and Italian art, or to anybody who is planning a trip to this wonderful country. I'm looking forward to traveling again and to joining one of his live tours.
