The Yellow Guides tours are an absolute must when visiting Rome. The All Over Tour and Sunset Tour were the highlights of our trip and the perfect way to see the city! Marco was so friendly, fun, and knowledgeable about everything in Rome and made the experience so wonderful. Loved the pizza, gelato, and espresso shops he recommended, they ended... More

The cooking class with Marco was more than I could of expected. We began with a trip to a local market to learn about and shop for our ingedienta than back to the kitchen of the Yellow Hostel. Wine was available throughout the lesson and meal. We made spinach and ricotta ravioli with a bolognese sauce as well as a... More

Walking tours are one of best ways to explore a place while getting to know people from around the world, and this one was no exception. Susy is a wonderful tour guide and has a keen eye for photography to recommend just the right spots to get those unforgettable pictures. She gave us some really good recommendations of places to... Ken is a great tour guide that works with the yellow hostel. Very knowledgeable, easy to ask questions too and goes at a great pace. I will be taking a different tour with him before I leave.

My husband and I attended the Cucina di Mamma cooking class not knowing what to expect, and it was by far the highlight of our stay in Rome. We got to meet some other great people, go to the local markets and learn where and how to pick ingredients, and how to make traditional handmade ravioli with ragù and typical... More

Really enjoyed this evening tour, Marco was so friendly, and he gave us a few recommendations for food/ ice cream / coffee which were excellent! He also helped us get one or two really nice photos. Highly recommend it, if you book your stay with The Yellow directly with them you get it for half price, so it's great value.

While staying at The Yellow Hostel, I took three walking tours of Rome. All of which were led by Ken. All three tours with Ken were funny, interesting, truthful, and covered just about anything you would need to know about the places you get to see. I strongly recommend taking a tour with Ken if you get the chance. He... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
