I went especially to view the excellent World Press Contest photography exhibition which I highly recommend. My visit, however, was made very unpleasant by the obvious and constant act of being followed and watched by one of the security staff. I felt singled out as a person of colour. I told the staff member that I was simply looking at the photographs like everyone else. He persisted in following me. I mentioned my experience at the ticket window as I was leaving. All the ticket seller could say was 'I am sorry.' Great museum, space, and exhibition. Treatment of people who are different is very poor especially in a venue catering to international and diverse audiences.

In Rome last month we decided to revisit this museum after having a great time here a couple years ago. We were not disappointed. The first floor featured an exhibit of Fernando Botero's depictions of, essentially, events reflected in the stations of the cross in "Boterismo." Really beautiful evocative works from this Mellin artist crossing boundaries and millenia. The Caravaggio Experience was featured on the second floor, a multimedia exploration of the works of this troubled realist painter. Set to music with displays presented simultaneously on different walls depicting the paintings in their entirety, and also in blowups that presented the artist's phenomenal skill with light, expression, emotion, and fantastic detail. The artist took extremely high resolution photos of Caravaggio's works in museums around the world for this exhibit, organized them by theme and period, and composed a lovely musical background. A captivating experience.

Lots of work going on to the exterior of the building.
Located on Via Nazionale just over half way down.
The facade is beautiful.
Well worth a visit.

We came across Palazzo delle Esposizioni by chance, while walking the streets of the city. We did not go inside, but only had a look from the outside, as we were there early morning and on our way elsewhere. The building itself is quite nice and it apparently has a bit of interesting history,as the Fascist government of Mussolini was unimpressed and had to modify it in order to conform with its own principles. Nevertheless the Palazzo survived and now it's an exhibition and function centre. Worth a look.

On until 8 Jan. 2017 is the 16th Quadrennial, which is billed as "exploring the most significant trends in the panorama of the contemporary visual arts in Italy." This panorama is not to my taste, with a number of electronic-technologically-oriented works. If contemporary art is to your taste, then you should see this exhibit. It only takes up a small portion of the building, which was built in 1883 and is beautiful.

If the two exhibits we saw -- the photos by Gardin and "The Caravaggio Experience" are any indication, the museum does a fabulous job of making art accessible and a real experience.

You missed the Caravaggio Experience, but as another reviewer wrote, watch for it and definitely attend if it opens again somewhere else! it immerses you in paintings, parts of paintings, and multi sensory inputs so that you come away with a whole new sense of the art. Just let your mind go and you'll be rewarded. This is unique, hugely ambitious, and excellently executed.

The Gardin paintings grab you gently but firmly. You want to know more about the people, the situations. Mostly, you enjoy and feel like you have been fortunate enough to have lived a few other lives, even if only briefly.

We ended up spending twice as much time at this museum as we had planned to do. It was a real highlight.

We came for the photography exhibit of Gianni Berengo Gardin and eventually meandered upstairs tot he Caravaggio Experience. We suspect that this will become a traveling exhibition and if it comes to your city it should be at the top of your to-do list.

A really impressive building on the via Nazionale. Home to lots of events and shows. We only had time for a quick view as we walked to the Monumnet Vittorio Emmanuels.

We went to the Caravaggio Experience which was really interesting. It was an in depth study of his work, light, character layout, biology, etc. It was great because later in our holiday when we saw Caravaggio's work for real, we were much better able to appreciate it.
