Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Museo Palatino (Palatine Museum) is located inside a former convent building amongst the ruins of Palatine Hill. Entry is included with Colosseo, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill entry ticket so it is well worth making a quick visit.

Here you can find 10 rooms and hallways, spread out over two separate floors, showcasing mainly 1st-4th century AD Roman artefacts that have been found at Palatine Hill. There are also displays and video showing pre-historic rome, before the famed Roman civilisation that ruled much of ancient world.

We enjoyed seeing displays of the Romulus Huts that you will see at the southwest corner of Palatine Hill. This helps put the archaeological dig site into much better perspective when you see it. There are also good condition statue heads, busts, sculptures, wall fresco fragments and a particularly nice pair of angelic wings known as the 'Wings of Victory' which are positioned so that you can stand in front for picture taking.

Overall, some nice artefacts on display at the Museo Palatine. Considering that this is free to visit to all who have paid entry to access Palatine Hill, it is definitely worth making a visit to see some of the ancient artefacts on display.

Note: You can comfortably visit the 10 rooms of the museum in 15-30 minutes depending on your interest.

Museo Palatino is in the Palatine area so you can enter when you visit the Roman Forum. It is not a huge museum, but the objects it holds are artifacts found on the surrounding site. They are quite lovely and many simply stunning. It is worth a look.

This is a small but very rich museum that showcases the many archeological discoveries found during the excavations of the Palatine Hill. They present artifacts, pictures and vivid videos and other presentation in a way that is captivating.

We were able to access it using the 72 Hours Roma Card which was great.

I have tried a number of times to visit this museum. No matter the time, no matter the day, the door is always locked with no hours posted and no explanation. Ask the staff and they just shrug, so don't count on visiting it!

I loved this small museum of archeological discoveries found during the excavations of the Palatine Hill. So often finds are moved to larger museums, so it was especially nice to view the statues, pottery and architectural details in the area where they were found. There is signage in English, and there is also an intriguing past life video that is really well done.

The museum is now only accessible if you have purchased the Biglietto S.U.P.E.R. that allows access to seven sites (see review for House of Augustus). The toilettes outside the museum are still open to all.

This museum is included in your ticket package for the Roman forum and colosseum. It is small but very informative for those like us that didn't have a guide. It also has audio visual representation of what the Forum may have looked like and how it operated in its time.

This relatively small museum sits atop Palatine Hill, not far from the House of Nero. It contains artifacts found during excavations on Palatine Hill, including statues, mosaics, frescoes and cameos. It's a nice way to spend 20-30 minutes at the end of your Forum/Palatine Hill tour.

We rushed through here with our tour and probably would have spent more time on our own. That's why we're returning this afternoon. This and Palestine Hill shouldn't be rushed. Way too much history here.

This small museum is located on the Palatine Hill area, and connected to the Forum. The building is actually a former convent, and it houses many of the artefacts unearthed in this area, including statues, pottery and mosaics. It also provides bathroom facilities, possibly with a queue. The displays tell the story of this area and complement any exploration of this archeological site.
