Describing the sights is not as important as describing the site: the history and specialness of place made me excited just to be there. It is a handsome place, with the double columns and St. Peter's Basilica. Of course, if we had seen the Pope,...More

This massive square is more a circle than a square, open at one end and facing towards Castel Sant’Angelo. As its focal point is the giant Basilica of St Peters, who’s impressive grandeur tends to overawe the spectator. St Peters square does offer the visitor...More

Nice square. Lots of visitors. Blistering hot day, sat under the fountain and chatted to an old Filipino couple. Classic.

If you can get to the square (no charge or Ticket needed) on a Sunday you should see the Pope speaking from his window. On Wednesday morning, again no need to pay, you can join the audience with the Pope. There are large display screens...More

This place had many people even though it was raining off and on and in late October. They had part of the piazza blacked off. It is nice to just people watch and look at the surrounding buildings. Very beautiful.

It was amazing to walk around this iconic place. It was not terribly crowded the day we were there. We got to see the change of the Swiss guards.

Not crowded at all in December. Everyone got in. Easy walk from Ottaviano metro station. Worst thing is the pestering people trying to sell you things or beg money. I was shocked but smoking is allowed in the square. Vaping is welcomed, too. If this...More

My advice is expect Large crowds, It will be very Crowded , probably very hot, get there as early as possible in other words probably not a good day to visit from a tourist point of view.
