The most beautiful work inside St. Peter's Cathedral is Michelangelo's famous La Pietà, considered by many to be the most moving piece of sculpture ever created.

Sad that it has to be behind glass, but so glad that it is still able to be viewed. Even behind glass it is moving.

This is definitely the draw at St. Peter's Basilica with crowds of people trying to get to the front to get a glimpse. Most people were courteous about letting everyone take turns in front, but others were all about getting their photos without regards to...More

A masterpiece located within St Peters Basilica. Inside the door on the right hand side, la pieta is located behind a glass screen. In high season it was hard to appreciate the detail from a distance but one can still appreciate the emotion it depicts....More

Another work of the brilliant prodigy Michelangelo. Just breathtaking. He's responsible for the most important artwork ever created.

I remember seeing the Pieta at The NY worlds fair In the 60's and although it was damaged by someone it still is beautiful and worth seeing.

I consider this to be the greatest sculpture ever created. The emotion reflected, the pose of Christ's body, and the detail on the clothing make this a must see and a Master Piece.

We saw the Pieta before they put it behind plexiglass. It is t as easy to appreciate the unique beauty now, but still it is immensely impressive. It is so incredible to see marble made to look so mobile and like human flesh! The looks...More
