Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a east-west street in the city centre of Bologna connecting Piazza Malpignhi and Via S. Felice (west) with Via Piazza Magiorri and Via Rizolli (east). It forms part of the ancient Rome road located here and is now named after patriot, Ugo Bassi (1800-1849) for whom there is a monument located along the street. In addition to the bronze statue is the work of C. Parmeggiani (1874), you will also find nice hotels, retail shops and eateries located along Via Ugo Bassi.

After walking through the compact old center of Bologna, some good shopping and an even better lunch we headed onto this mainstreet for a quick walk.

And it feels like another world right away. You just jumped a few centuries forward in time. It's a main street, lined with shops, restaurants and more. Could be in Barcelona, could be London, could even be NYC. Big main streets are all similar. Chain stores, banks, chain restaurants.

But still, it was quite fun to walk up and down this street. Terranova is a nice fashion shop and in "Oggi" you can get some really nice Gelato. The Mercato Delle Erbe was a bit underwhelming. I've seen better indoor mercatos.

Still, if you want a change from the historic center and miss some window shopping on a main street or if you just have some time to kill in Bologna, you should check this street here out.

This main road leads from almost in front of the beautiful church of San Francesco down towards the famous Two Towers. There’s a mix of up market and more basic shops and there’s the entrance to the magical Mercato Della Erbe fruit and vegetable market. Well worth walking along this route.

This bronze statue is currently located at the intersection of Via Ugo Bassi and Via Nazario Sauro.

It was created by the sculptor Carlo Parmeggiani in 1888.

Originally the statue was placed in the middle of Via dell'Indipendenza, in front of Teatro Arena del Sole.

In 1900, it gave way to the monument of Garibaldi and was moved to Via Ugo Bassi.
