Since 1999 offering Market-to-Table day class, half day classes, 3 night courses. As my classes are for very small numbers they fill up quickly and the first months to fill are April/May and September/October so plan ahead! I offer home cooking in a well air-conditioned home kitchen making updated, well plated, traditional Italian meals and my apartment is right in the heart of the historic city. Beginners, experienced cooks, professional chefs, families with children all welcome! I do my utmost to give you a memorable day and a great culinary experience and teach all the classes personally. And if you or your travelling partner/s don't fancy cooking, I offer a morning market food tour ending in a light lunch to introduce you to Bologna, its history and its food. And an unusual evening tour too, just email to ask!

I always complained about how expensive italian food was cause it was just "dough and sauce." After going through Carmelita's pasta making short class I can see why. Three or four hours of mixing egg with flour and flattening out the dough! Wow! It was a great learning experience and we made tasty dishes. Wish I had time for a... More

Carmelita was a fantastic host from start to finish with much more than just a cooking lesson. We met her in the market and she treated us to many delights of Bologna including the local cheese, meat and wine stores. The knowledge and detail provided is fantastic and a full day from 9am - 5pm was spent learning, tasting and... More

My wife and I would like to thank you for the thoroughly enjoyable time we had with Carmelita . We met her ,along with one other couple , at the Market and continued from there. After coffee, we spent time learning about the Market and choosing from the fresh meats and produce. From there, we returned to her apartment and... More

Both myself and my wife really enjoyed our time with Carmelita both learning a lot about the local marketplace and also about cooking and making pasta. We took the course we another couple that had also booked on the course and we all had a great time. The wine that we had perfectly complemented the meal. We would both highly... More

Carmelita gives you so much more than a cooking lesson! We met her and two other students at the market for espressos and cappuccinos and began our tour. We met many shop owners, learned about the best shops and those that aren't as high quality, sampled many local foods (including balsamic vinegar and chocolates), and learned about the gastronomic history... We had a fantastic one day cookery course with Carmelita. She is incredibly knowledgeable about everything to do with food. We had a fantastic tour around the markets and shops, learning about cheeses, meats, balsamic vinegar, chocolate...the list goes on! Then made the most delicious pasta at her home. I'd recommend Cook Italy for anyone who is visiting Bologna...or to... More

Run don't walk over to Carmelita's website and sign up to spend the day with this warm hearted and passionate woman in her city and her kitchen. We spent a lengthy morning in the old market area not only picking up ingredients for cooking but taste testing and a little history of Bologna and food culture. She opens your heart... More

Carmelita, your guide to a fantastic cooking experience from market to plate. We were fortunate to find Carmelita's "Cook Italy" on Trip Advisor after a previously scheduled cooking class didn't happen. Luckily she had space for two the next day. We started by meeting at the open markets and learning about the best produce, butchers and meat, cheese, bakers and... More

We visited Italy in August to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday and, Carmelita very kindly squeezed us in before taking her own holiday. From start to finish we had an absolutely fantastic day. The morning's market tour, during which we picked up all our ingredients, was both interesting and informative & was filled with hints and tips for how to... More
