Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You see this statue and just have to check out who it is. not many people in this country will know that Luigi Galvani was one of the early pioneers of electricity experimentation.

It stands in the piazza in front of the Teatro Anatomico, adjacent to Portico del Pavaglione. Give it a quick look when you are in the area.

Located in the centre of Piazza Galvani, the statue is of Luigi Galvani, and has stood there since 1879. Galvani is probably best known as the man who discovered that the muscles of dead frogs' legs twitched when struck by an electrical spark, and is known as the father of Bioelectromagnetics. Unless you're a biologist or medical physician, the statue is of little interest apart from noting in passing.

Tucked away behind San Petronio is a humble monument to Luigi Galvani, widely credited to be a pioneer of bioelectromagnetics. This monument is the centerpiece of Piazza Galvani where you can sit outside of one of the many higher-end cafes of Bologna. Depicted performing the experiment he is most known for, it makes a nice centerpiece and is a nice monument to a little-known scholar.

I have a small soft spot for the subject of this statue as he is famous for being the first person that discovered that dissected frogs legs or rat tails twitch when you apply an electric spark to them, which still ranks as one of the most entertaining days I had studying biology at school.
But as statues go its fairly plain, overshadowed by the buildings that surround it and there fore easily missed. I would say more people used the stones around it as seats than those that actually pay attention to the statue.

This statue commemorates the man who gave his name to the principle of galvanising people into action. Located in the square opposite where Bologna’s university was in the 16th century and where the iconic Archiginnasio is now situated .

Luigi Galvani was one of the very early pioneers of bioelectromagnetics and this statue in Piazza Galvani is his memorial. It shows him gazing at a frog on a slab and through his experiments on frogs, he established that the frogs legs moved when an electric charge was put to them.
It's a nice square to relax in after a visit to the University and there are a couple of good cafes for refreshment.

Just outside the ancient building of the University of Bologna where you can visit the "teatro anatomico" you find this nice statue. It is an homage to the bolognese inventor of the battery and the first observer of the electrical nature of the muscular contraction.

It is on a small piazza, just at the University Library. If you know who he was - a great physian - than you just say, it is nice that there is a monument in his memery.

Undoubtedly Luigi Galvani may have been a prominent person and pride of the city of Bologna, but a tourist who for the first time in the city sees this statue might ask yourself a few questions ...
The statue itself is plain and simple, is not certainly a memorable work of art, in Italy there are millions, as well as this and even more beautiful. Anyway, pass by and give a look, right near Piazza Maggiore.
