The grave itself is not so special ( too modern), but the church and the surroundings are nice. Tourism office is around the corner, which is very practical.

A nice park with a tomb where often verses are cited at sunset - and a bell rings 13 times at sunset in memory of Italy‘s maybe greatest poet. The grave has an interesting history as Dante, banned and death sentenced in Florence, fled to Ravenna and died there - but his remains were later claimed by Florence and hidden secretly by monks close to the tomb.

Of course you visit Dantes Tomb when in Ravenna yet it is not a very special one. Building surrounding makes visiting this Tomb a must.

This is a modest, elegant stone tomb that draws you in with its simplicity and, of course, the poet's words. The city of Ravenna is gearing up to celebrate 700 years since his birth. The neighborhood surrounding this well-maintained monument is walkable and worth exploring.
