Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worth a visit. It’s a strange combination of palazzo with gorgeous rooms and furniture that then morphs into an art gallery which is all a little unexpected. However, having said that both are pretty good. The palazzo is very beautiful and is a period piece of great quality. The art gallery is very modern and has a lot of more modern to very modern sculpture and mostly 19th and early 20th century painting. At the top in the summer is a rooftop cafe sadly not open when we were there but we snuck out there and it has great views over the city and port. It’s not expensive is pretty central but at the eastern end of town and I would plan on around 2 hours for a decent visit plus coffee/drink stop. There is also plenty of other things to see nearby so worth the effort

First get past the staff smoking in the doorway. Then the best you get from the man at the ticket desk is a glare and grunt. On trying to play the audio guide, having downloaded it to the phone, one discovers that you need a code. That is hidden at the side of the ticket desk. You have to go back to get that.
Lots of staff talking to each other, no help, no advice, no suggestions. We speak Italian but that did not help.
Once you get going the content is rather interesting although many of the modern things were not availed to see. We have no idea why. We were entirely put off by the atypical unfriendly staff. A disgrace, not in any way typical of Italy.

What more can you say about the Revoltella Palace Museum except that every art lover must come to see this masterpiece and feel and sit back with the past.
Many thanks to Baron Pasquale Revoltella for this legacy for the future.
Be sure to look back and fly into the past.

The museum is called after the house owner who gave his private luxury mansion (built in the second half of the 19th century) including plenty of interesting artefacts to the city of Triest.

So, you can visit at least 2 parts (permanent exhibitions):
• the mansion including furniture, paintings etc
• museum of modern art

And in July 23 also the "Miro temporary exhibition" .

Staff was friendly and not on your back 😉

Great experience.

One of the best regional art museums we have ever visited. We stayed for three hours. Part-palace rich with local history, part-contemporary art museum showcasing regional (north-east Italian) artists from the past 150 years, Revoltella delighted and surprised us many times over. Our kids (both teens) did not say "I'm bored" once.

Odd combination of modern art and older art and rooms restored from a previous historical owner. The museum has an interesting mix of art. We saw the exhibition from Ligabue which was interesting. Not a lot of English artistic interpretations and explanations of art which is a shame.

The museum is in the center of Trieste, and easily accessible on foot. In its 6 floors building the museum has two distinctive parts: the upper 3 floors are dedicated to a modern art collection, and the lower 3 floors show the way wealthy Italian citizens lived in the 19th century. I was interested in the latter. I found that the museum offers well preserved original settings in order to gain an impression. A private museum of an excellent quality, certainly worth visiting, and easy to fit in, even in the most busy schedule.

This pallazo still has the family rooms ntact. My favorites were the library with beautifully carved wood decor and the optic room, not to be missed. In the far corner of the 2nd floor room is a built in lens to view the street, like a periscope. A similar, but different optiv view is installed on the next higher floor. Extensive art collection here can take quite a while to view in its entirety.

Very nice museum with an impressive exposition of contemporary art on the top floor and unexpectedly beautiful palace on the lower floors. We were pleasantly surprised with the place!
