Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a great place and a foodie's dream. One floor is a fresh fruit and vegetable market which was closed by the time I got there. The other floor is a mixture of restaurants and stores selling a great many items. I forgot the name of the place, but I went to the fresh pasta place, and it was wonderful. Many people in line had also been recommended to go here, and it was well worth the short wait. Outside the market are many vendors selling various quality leather goods and souvenirs.

Sadly this market is nearly defunct - we went on a Monday morning, expecting it to be bustling with activity, food stalls and clothing upstairs. Almost every stall was shut up, bar a couple of fruit and veg stalls - though their produce looked good, so if you are in the market for nectarines and peaches worth a visit. Upstairs everything was closed except for one fashion stall where a seamstress was making alterations. She said that at most about three shops open now, and not everyday.
Sad to see what must have been an amazing market dwindling away.😥

Unfortunately the market lived up to expectations. In common with many others in Europe it has seen better days and although the stalls available were a colourful and glistening with fresh produce it had a slightly run down feeling.
We absorbed the atmosphere sitting in one corner by the market bar. Drinking glasses of white wine for a euro accompanied by tapas type treats we watched the older men passing time with hearty exchanges and the occasional song. A cyclist joined in - probably in his seventies, a road bike - clean and sleek, fully dressed in lycra of many hues, walking like a gaucho on his cleats, leg muscles like the trunk of a hawthorn.
In the background a Slovenian butcher cutting his carcasses into tasty offerings to attract the few passing customers. As a free entertainment the hour spent was hard to beat.

Wonderful 1930s modernist building with a helicoidal ramp from ground to first floor housing mostly fruit and veg stalls on the ground floor. Beautiful fresh produce. Not really intended for tourists.

This market is a local market with basic fruit, veg and some other shops selling household needs. It is not particularly picturesque or touristy.

Good, if you wont to have a filling you are in an italian movie. But the fruit is much expensive than in shops.

This is a place to visit either if you are a turist or if you live in Trieste. This market is a piece of the life of the city and is very characteristic and romantic.

The market have two floors. On the earth ground there is a food market. Here you can found any kind of vegetables, meat, bread, confectionery products and many other things linked to the kitchen life.

A visit in this place could be an opportunity to eat something tasty and genuine.

On the first floor there is a goods market. Here you can find things for the beach, newsstands, someone that sell material that come from some cellar, some paintings, something new, something old, something antiques.

if you are in the area a visit is mandatory.

This market is different from many better markets in Italy - not worth a visit! Nothing was on offer except fruit and vegetables. Fish/meat stalls were closed. What a pity!
