Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unlike the other 4 Cinque Terre towns, Corniglia is not down beside a harbour or beach. It is set up on high in the hilltops above the Ligurian Sea. This means that there are a number of beautiful viewpoints.
i) Undoubtedly, the best is the Santa Maria Belvedere terrace. From here, you have panoramic views across the Ligurian sea and the Cinque Terre coastline. There’s also a bar along the terrace, Bar Terza Terra where we sat to have a drink at the end of a long day hiking. It was a perfect way to end a day - unbeatable.
ii) There’s another hidden viewpoint from behind the Santa Caterina Oratory in Piazza Largo Taragia. Look for the steps on the right hand side of the oratory which lead you to the back of the small building and you’ll find another terrace. Whilst this one is a bit scruffy and unloved looking, you still have a nice viewpoint from here.
iii) The forecourt in front of Chiesa di San Pietro has an elevated position and is a good spot to sit for a while and look over the town. It is mostly enclosed by surrounding houses and their colourful facades, lines of washing and balconies make it a very characteristic scene.
iv) Arriving into Corniglia via the Volastra hiking trail means that you descend into the town from the mountains. Its a steep walk but we had stunning views of the town as we descended.
v) Leaving Corniglia, we walked down the long, sloping staircase known as Lardarina Scalinata. Yes, its 377 stairs but along the way, you get a bird's eye view down over the sea and across the hillsides which took away some of the pain of so many stairs.

Corniglia is the most piturest town of the towns of Cinque Terre. If you're making a quick day trip from a cruise ship or something this is the best town to visit (unless you want to lay on the beach in Montorosso).

Corniglia is the only Cinque Terre town not by the sea. We traveled by a short train ride from Sestri Levante. On arrival you can either walk up 385 steps or as we did reach the town using a shuttle bus.
Corniglia does not have a lot of attractions. As soon as we reached town we walked Via Fiaschi and stopped at Bistro Margherita for foccacia and beer. We walked to the end of this old town street and reached the square, Largo Taraggio where you will find a couple of restaurant, bars and the small oratory of Santa Caterina.

Proceeding further and some steps you arrive at the Santa Maria Belvedere. Here you can see a beautiful panorama and makes for a great photo stop.
In Corniglia there are some shops like Buttiega selling local organic produce for picnics. At enoteca Il Pirun you can drink wine from an old fashioned wine pitcher.
Corniglia has its quaint appeal and is part of the Cinque Terre so we did not leave it out.

Two of us took the train to Corniglia from our hotel in Monterosso today for half a day and had an amazing time.
Upon arriving at Corniglia railway station, there were 476 stairs up to the town, I know, I counted every one!
However there was a mini bus operating, but I don't know cost or timetable details, but it was heavily used today.
Upon arrival at this beautiful town, we enjoyed coffee before wandering the streets, exploring the magnificent St Peter's church, checking out the market stalls and taking lots of photos.
Thoroughly recommend a visit to this hilltop town, part of the Cinque Terra, but no as crowded, but suggest you do not visit the Public WC unless you are desperate!
Our walk down to the railway station was much more relaxing.

If you really want to escape from cities, Corniglia in March is the way to do it! We felt like we were in a Dean Koontz novel. Strangely quiet, yet serene and peaceful. As you can see, the steps are not steep, and spaced far apart, so an easy climb or descent, complete with amazing views! A man was playing lovely music in one corner of the steps as we descended, and his wife stood nearby. They seemed to be perched on the edge of the earth.

View Point Corniglia is the best lookout located in Corniglia, a town on the top of a hill, in Cinque Terre National Park, in La Spezia Region, in the North of Italy. After walking around this old town, you can go to this lookout and enjoy with the very beautiful views of the coast, the sea and other Cinque Terre towns. Very nice place.

You walk up quite a few steps (or take the bus) to the top of Corniglia for some fantastic views. While the views are amazing, it would be difficult for me to say which views in Cinque Terre were not amazing!

Beautiful view of the coast line - from many different points of view - here in Corniglia. It is a small town, but lovely people but you can see from Manarolla to Monterosso.

Spectacular is an underestimation. The scenery is just wonderful especially as there was an atmospheric mist. A do not miss photo opportunity
