If you have read my reviews you know that I like to visit old churches for the wonderful surprises you find inside them. This one is no exception. If you get the chance make sure you visit.

I love visiting churches and this one was unique and quite in keeping with the flavor of the town.... quaint and precious. The visit doesn't take a long time.

This church dates back from the early 1300's; it is a simple but beautiful place of worship that looks very austere compared to the places in Rome. It is at the top of the town of Manarola up a very steep hill, but well worth...More

Enjoying the small chapels/churches of Italy. The big grand duomo's of Orvieto and Florence are awe inspiring. But there is something sweet and peaceful of these small churches tucked away in the local communities. Chiesa di San Lorenzo is a perfect spot to stop and...More

Stopped by this church on my way to get coffee and I was pleasantly surprised. It's small, but beautiful. It's not extremely ornate like other churches. It's simple, but very pretty.

Great hike up from the bottom of the town. There are wonderful views from the piazza in front of the church. Very spartan inside but that adds to its simple beauty.

Built in 1300's. Attended a Sunday service. Population in Manarola is 200. So, priest drives in from La Spezia for services. Simple church, but an incredible feeling of many years of deep devotion by the parishioners. A must eye when in Cinque Terre.

I remember seeing the mass schedule pasted on the noticeboard inside the church near the entrance. I didn't note down the timing but I think it should not be very different from the mass timings of other churches in Italy... More
