Very reasonable way to get above the city and have a wonderful view. This is really a elevator which is part of the public transport system.

Take the vintage elevator up the terrace where you get a great view of the old town and the harbor. You can then walk down through the steep winding streets, back to Via Garibaldi and the old town.

This is a must seen attraction, you can either get there by an elevator or take a walk from Via Garibaldi. I will recomend the walk since it has more of a city feeling, but it is a very steep 10 minutes. Once you are...More

We decided to walk up to the top. We got a little lost on the way as Genoa can get confusing due to lifts etc We were stopped by some locals who pointed us in the direction of the steps. Bit of a drag up...More

it is an exhilarating climb from the heart of Genoa to this spot that has the most amazing view. Plenty of seats to sit on while admiring the city.

Would probably suggest using the lift, as we got lost and google maps took us to the top, which is quite steep in places. You get some lovely views and really nice area to stroll around.

Only a short walk from the waterfront and well worth the effort. We’ve travelled to many places built on hillsides but haven’t seen anything quite like this historic elevator...perhaps slightly quirky/similar to the escalator in Barcelona. Genoa is called “the vertical city” and it’s easy...More

We took the two-stage underground funicular to within a few steps of this rich man's vanity project, filled with mock medieval posturings but dating back little more than 100 years, and that was an experience in itself. The air was fresh and the views were...More

Though it takes a little while walking up many steps to reach, this place offers great views over Genoa, particularly towards the old city and port area. You can take a different path down which is a bonus. Thete is an enclosed viewing area at...More

We used the cheap (0.90€) lift to ride uphill to this viewing terrace and then walked around the area which has bars and cafes. Walked back down to the city using the cobbled, steep streets, which was more interesting than using the lift.
