Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Campopisano or Campio Pisano is worth a quick visit, but it seems to me, to be more of a place to visit while on your way to your destination. Campo Pisano is an example of the stone work called rissiu which are pebble paving using the typical colors of Liguria; white and black. They were often created by seamen during the 18th century and like the one at Campo Pisano, they often have a nautical theme. From my limited understanding, the area where this is located is as important as the work it’s self. The Battle of Meloria between the Genovese and the Republic of Pisa in 1284 brought 9,000 prisoners to Genoa who were imprisoned in this area called Campo Pisano and because of the very poor living conditions, many died. In the 15th century a decree was issued that no further building could be done on this site and that it should be declared a cemetery. It’s a bit difficult to locate, but can be accessed from Piazza Sarzano and Vico delle Murettte. If you are planning a visit to Sant’Agostino museum (also called the Museo di Scultura Ligure or the old monastery of Sant ‘Agostino) it is very close by. The area has several brick stone paths that seem to traverse private courtyards, but unless you come across a closed gate, it’s fine to walk through the area. The courtyard is up high, thus difficult to see. It’s particularly pretty in the summer time and there is a nice outdoor restaurant in the same piazza. Guide books also call attention to “colorful row houses looking out to the sea”…I looked, but feel those houses need fresh paint! Other good examples of rissiu can be seen at Palazzo Reale. If you have any questions about what to see in Genoa, feel free to contact me. Enjoy your time!

A secluded place full of history, unknown even to most of the citizens. A must see of Genoa
