We thought the boat trip to the beautiful Cinque Terre would be the highlight of our holiday and it is indeed a beautiful and interesting trip but it is totally ruined by the enormous groups of people who turn up from the cruise ships. We...More

While I think this is probably the only way one can really get to the seaside villages of Cinque Terre, I'm not a lover of boats. We just so happened to go out on this thing on a cold and windy day, so I can't...More

We bought a day ticket and travelled from La Spezia to Monte Rosso and backwards. The boat was completely full with so many tourists but it was just beautiful and amazing getting to the lovely villages via sea.

My boyfriend wanted to go on a "daily tour" around the 5 Terre where you have the opportunity to visit the 5 lands &see them for an hour each. Sadly we arrived too late to take the 11:15am boat so we waited for the next...More

Cinque Terre is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Italy, but it's also not easy to include in most traditional travel itineraries for Italy. If you are touring Italy by car, here's one way to fit in Cinque Terre as a day...More

I don't understand how they keep their business. (I do, they are more or less alone). This is the perfect exemple of bad communication. Not a single departure on time, no communication that you have to het off the first cruise to go to the...More

Accessible via ferry boat from Portovenere, Italy (a fabulous island just past Cinque Terre), take this lovely, enjoyable tour of the three largely uninhabited islands where parts of medieval castles still stand and you can see caves that were inhabited long ago.

I agree totally with gaman below. On our day, there were two cruise ships in port, including Allure of the seas (capacity over 6,000 pax). Embarkation and disembarkation was by a single width gangway, and took about 20 minutes. There was no attempt at crowd...More

Yes, you can catch the ferry in Le spezia to the 5 cities. It was 35 Euros per person. Very much worth the price. The boats don’t run in choppy seas.

We purchased them at the pier -- I don't think it's a problem to get on -- we never saw the boats turn anyone away. I think they put more boats on when the crowds are bigger. You can see the schedule online which will help... More

1962shona. If you're referring to boat, train or bus fares, we did not pre book any of them as we never planned more than one day ahead. You can also get a Cinque Terre pass while you're there. As to prices: I can't remember... More
