Incredible, you cross the river into this old town from the new one and it feels like stepping back in time, going back a couple of hundred years. Don't just visit the cathedral and piazza, do take the time to walk around the narrow streets and passageways. A couple of hours is more than enough for your visit but worth... More

A typical coastal old town, similar to nearby Menton but not as well kept. Luckily some buildings have been taken care of, notably the thousand year old romantic cathedral with an interesting crypte. The view over the sea is splendid, what is missing are nice cafes and restaurants and it is heartbreaking to see how modern shop doors and other details... We took the train from Nice to go to the Friday Market and it was packed with both vendors and customers. It was a really fun day and we loved the huge assortment of things for sale. It was a very lively atmosphere and definitely worth the trip. We got parmesan cheese, pastries, handmade Italian leather gloves and Lemoncello. Prices... More

This is how you take yourself to Ventimiaglia Alta - the Old Town on foot: 1) From the railway station take the second (I think) turn to the right, look for this corner "Perfume' boutique. Don't follow the blue arrow, you need the street with the red 'no go' sign! 2) Keep the right-hand direction, cross the bridge with this... More

The old town of Ventimiglia has been partly well restored, although lots to do still it has the Mediterranean charm of a typical border town before entering France. The steep narrow streets keep you cool in the summer months and often spectacular views in between the buildings and streets allows you to glimpse the azur blue sea. The main town... More

I went just for an afternoon on a Sunday (probably not the best day to go admittedly) but definitely thought there would be something more there! Old town was very pretty but we'd seen it all in about half an hour! Then be aware as none of the restaurants open for dinner service until about 6:30/7pm! Maybe that's a seasonal... More

Looking at some of the other reviews here there seems to be some confusion about what part of Ventimiglia is the "old town". The old town part is the Ventmiglia Alta which is west of the river and up on a steep hill, it is quite seperate from the newer part of the town where there are obviously shops etc... More

We spent the night in Ventimiglia, and the night we arrived was cold, rainy, and quite dreary. I wasn't expecting much. The next day, however, the sun was out and the temperature was perfeThat for exploring. We had until 3 pm to check into our apartment in Antibes, so we explored the Old Town. It was I like anything I... More

My friend and I were staying in Nice and took the train over to Ventimiglia for the day. There was a nice beach, some great restaurants. The old town was nice to walk around in. There were a lot of churches and shops.

We drove to the market in Italy from Nice (about an hour and 20 minutes) well worth a visit to this old And pretty Italian town with a market that stretches for miles selling clothes, food, electronics and also has an abundance of sellers with Fake bags, shoes and coats! An absolute nightmare to park but once you do you... More
