The stunning lake is a beautiful feature and attraction for tourists. Stroll around the lake, dine at a restaurant, sit in the local piazza, shop at top end stores, or take the funicular to the hill top village of Brunate. Plenty to see or just...More

Visited the city and honestly I prefer the ones surrounding it like Bellagio or Menaggio. Was full of dodgy people doing nothing near the lake and very busy during the weekend...

We planned our own trip to Lake Como, and saved more than €200! We took the 'regionale' train from Cadorna Stazione to Como Lago Nord, which was the last stop on the train, so no confusion! Bought the first class tickets at the station itself,...More

We visited Varenna and rented a boat, the views were stunning and the temperatures reached 31 Degrees. The train from Milan was easy to book and didn't take long. I cannot reccomend the lakes enough and would say it is better to stay in Como...More

We came back here 9yrs since we were last here for our honeymoon (and with the kids). Overall a lovely area with friendly Italian service, both professional and welcoming. The only criticism I have is the haze/air pollution that subtracts from an otherwise gorgeous setting.

Lake Como is an extraordinary beautiful lake surrounded by green mountains. It is usually an absolute pleasure walking the promenades. However some of the lake promenade has been closed off with a wire fence right in the centre of the town. It looks as though...More

When in Milan go take the one hour ride train to lake como. You'll be amazed by the views little restaurants, amazing lake rides. Suitable for family and couples, romantic and quiet. Take a boat ride to belaggio and enjoy lunch by the lake, amazing!

Only an hour away from Milano by car. So if your in the big city and want to get out come here. less hustle and bustle than Venice and more rewarding and relaxing.

Hello. I currently have reservations on hold at two places--not sure which to choose. I have Hotel Oliveto in Varenna and Hotel Belvedere in Bellagio. The latter is much more expensive for the two nights in Sept. But it looks amazing, and is in the town that is more "happening." Does anyone have knowledge of these two? Varenna has the train station, and we'll be going to Milan. And the hotel is right near that, and the ferry, so that's great. But will we probably want to go to Bellagio every night and the ferry's don't run late, and we'll be sorry we didn't just stay there? And is our hotel choice in Bellagio too far away from things, anyway? Confused!

There are ferries and fast boats. For private boat tours you must check in Como at the port. During the summer you can rent boats in Ossuccio wich is half way from Como and Menaggio basically opposite side of the lake from... More

What I suggest is while you are there you can use the train as it'll give you the chance to walk around the area which is really nice but for the day of departure try to hire a vehicle to avoid any risk. However there are... More
