We decided to go up the tower on a whim, but enjoyed the experience. Great views from the top and a chance to look down on the Piazza Vecchia from on high. Not very expensive either. You can take a lift if climbing the (many) stairs is too strenuous.

You can climb there or use the lift- the price is the same, and well worth it. The views are spectacular. The bell tolls quite often, you might not want to be there when it does ;-)

Depending which source you read, the Campanone tower rises between 52 to 56 meters high, by no means an impossible mission to climb. If you take the narrow elevator, you arrive at one level below the campanone with just as breathtaking view as up but reaching the top, I must caution you to mind the steep and slippery stairs!!! and... The tower is very easy to climb or even use an elevator so small kids can easily join the experience. The view from above is fantastic on both the near historical buildings of Bergamo Alta and the surrounding city. Nice experience once you are in the area.

Lovely place to spend an evening. Just sit by the fountain and watch the people go about their touristy thing....

Easy to climb the stairs or use the elevator. Two levels at the top so not usually too crowded. Cheap (3 euros july 2016)

Went here with my 3 year old and 11 month old girls. We had a wonderful time in the square below. Bergamo itself is small, so this is directly across from the main church. We ate icecream and had pizza in the square. Over all a great time.

located on the main square of Bergamo's upper town (Citta Alta), the Campanone is the main landmark. you may climb it for a great view, or just enjoy its view in the middle of nice old buildings from downstairs.

The municipal tower is 54 metres high and stands at the side of Piazza Vecchia, it is also known as the Campanone, the Big Bell and can be reached by a lift. For centuries , every night at ten o' clock, the main bell has been rung 180 times to mark the curfew, the hour the town gates were closed.... More

Built in the 12th century it still is in great condition and one of many beautiful buildings in Piazza Vecchia. It is the highest tow in the city at 52.76 meters and is accessed via a series of steep covered steps.
