People watchers paradise!

A great place to stop and grab a coffee or aperitif in one of the bars. Great atmosphere and close to the Duomo and various other sights and a short walk from the funicular.

The old square in the centre of old Bergamo is a must - for a coffee, an ice cream, a meal - or just a quick rest near the fountain.

It is a nice place to sit in the sun, have a coffee and watch people doing whatever they do. Especially in the evenings the atmosphere is breathtaking as it is illuinated and sometimes it is possible to listen to the churchs' bells and opera music.

Piazza vecchia is the core of the Medieval Città alta in Bergamo . Historical buildings such as biblioteca, the dome and Palazzo della Ragione, the clock tower all face Piazza vecchia. You can either walk, or decide to enjoy the view sipping a nice coffee or treating yourself with a special meal in one of the many restaurants. A must!

We sat outside a cafe under a patio heater (luckily as it was a cold day) and took in the beauty of the square, people and dog watching. Next the Biblioteca (enormous stunning white building) the cafe is on the corner as you enter the piazza. Each building around the square is old and unique - very Italian.

A great place to have coffee or hang out. Get some food to go and sit on the marble steps opposite the Basilica and observe the activity. Nice cafes and restaurants around here, but you may find better in the other streets and area of the Citta Alta. Plenty of architecture and history to observe as well.

Was a random trip as my friend took me up from Milan. The winding streets through Bergamo is stunning. I was here in winter and it had a wonderful stillness to it all. Plenty places for coffee and eating to warm the body. But the soul felt good just walking about this place. Enjoy.

Quite pleasant place, one can stop for a coffee or a meal here - or just embrace surrounding history. If you are expecting a wow factor - simply do not, since Italy has high standards set for piazzas. But I'd bet you'll like it.

A good place to sit on marble steps or in one of the cafes and to enjoy some genuine Italian vibe. It's the place where street artists have their shows, there's also a solar calendar for science fans (nerds? ;-) ) to check out.

We visited the town twice during our stay and lingering in this Piazza was a must even if the day was a bit misty or rainy, it was worth it.
