Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Maybe I had the wrong expectation heading into this tour, but based on the description I had thought you would be able to get closer to/inside the Villa. The reality is, it's off limits and you don't even get close to it out of respect for the Villa's guests. The views are great, yes, but many places in Bellagio offer amazing views. Just not worth the two hours.

Exceptional visit with a guide, Paola, absolutely competent and friendly: she went seamlessly from speaking Italian to translating into English and French. It satisfied all the visitors' curiosities! Experience to do if you want to visit Bellagio.

Best bird’s eye view in Lake Como. My adult girls and I all enjoyed the walk, view and historical perspective!! Get tickets early as groups are small. English speaking tours available.

We had planned this visit and left empty-handed! After a boat crossing and a bit of walking, we struggled to find the entrance to the park because there was no signage once there, people had been circling for a while... it's up to you to find the entrance on your own! PARC FERME this day (Wednesday) not indicated on the website obviously. We lost another 1 hour to leave by boat.

The gardens are very beautiful and give the impression of coming from a fairy tale.
The history of the place is interesting and the guide was very nice and skilled.
Too bad it's not possible to visit the villa itself but the tour was very good anyway.

We started off trying to find this place on our own without knowing it was a privately owned property. With our persistence we did find it. In the Upper part of Bellagio in the main square near the St. Giacomo church. There is a tourist office in the Old Medieval tower on the bottom floor. We bought tickets for 9 euros each and joined a guided group tour. This tour offers one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen as we walked uphill. The views of the lake and the Italian Alps along with the lake and its towns is stunning. Bring your camera! Our tour guide was excellent explaining the history of this remarkable property which has been in the hands of the Rockefeller foundation since 1959.The history dates back to the Sfondrati family in 1566 and then passed on to the Serbelloni family who poured his heart into the property.Exotic plants and trees were imported to this property and is quite an expansive park with at least 53 acres of land. The Villa is private and not opened to the public but has hosted some famous people over the years including Leonardo Da Vinci. At one point an American princess owned it and donated it to the Rockefeller foundation. Today it is used as a meeting place for scholars and conferences.Very peaceful and serene place amongst the trees. At the very top are the remains of a Roman garrison that was used to protect them against invaders.I found this tour simply amazing and the view both going up and down the hill is one I will always remember.Make sure you take good walking shoes! You can book this online ahead of time and kids are welcomed between the ages of 7-13. 5 euros. The tours are twice a day 11 am.and 3.30 pm.except Mondays and some holidays. This tour was one of the most memorable tours we have taken in Italy and we recommend it!

Villa is not open to public and you can only see grounds by pre-booked guided tour, which you have to book at tourist office. There is only 2 tours a day. Tour takes about one a half hours. There is no garden here, just a long, steep path, which is difficult to walk on - full of rocks and stones, and mostly uphill, so wish I'd worn trainers or plimsoles instead of sandals. Views from here of the lake are very good though.

You can do a 2 hour tour of the garden. You need to be relatively fit because it is uphill and hot in the summer. The guide was knowledgable and you see stunning views over Lake Como.
You can not visit the villa because it belongs to the Rockafella foundation.

I was told that this villa is a must visit when in Ballagio but in true, you only see this building from afar. It was renovated and is such a modern building there is nothing impressive.

It is only a park with history behind it. The tour is more like a nature walk. At various points, you get to see different views of the lake.

The guide kept mentioning the great Rockefeller Foundation that it seemed like she was advertising the foundation.

The other villa in Lake Lenno is much more interesting and original.

Don't waste your money nor time on this.

Having completed the self-guided historical tour of Bellagio (available from TI). We had read about this in the guide, so decided to join an afternoon tour. It's not cheap at 9 euoros, but the guide was very interesting and I'm glad we went. The light in the morning is apparently better for photos, there was a lot of glare on the lake in the afternoon while we were there.
