Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We struggled to find much information online about the lido so walked down there from central Como on a Saturday lunchtime hoping it would be open. There are various pricing options; we paid for entry to ‘the meadow’ and laid out towels on the grass. There were also wooden picnic benches available for use. The pool was lovely and clean, and a pleasant temperature. Swimming caps are mandatory but you can buy them for €3.50. In addition to the pool there is a small area in the lake cordoned off for swimming, and a gravel ‘beach’ with more sunbeds. Showers and toilets weren’t great but did the job. Lovely place, would happily return.

We have just had a lovely day at the lido. The prices, which we felt were fair, were explained to us on arrival by a kind friendly man. Then another member of staff, equally friendly and helpful, excorted us to the grassed area and erected the parasol and chairs exactly where we wanted to be.
We first went to the lake swimming area which had a life guard. Were not surprised by the stones and rounded rocks as this is normal for lake side swimming. Yes the lake could be cleaner, but needs the cooperation of many bodies and resources in a coordinated plan. It was lovely to cool off.
Next to the swimming pool, which was clean and well serviced by attentive pool staff.
Drinks and food were reasonable priced, surprising lower than we expected.
A big thank you to all the staff we met today, and for the friendly goodbye when we left.
A highly recommended experience, we will be back!

First stop in Como! Arrived by train from Milano and walked the few steps into town. Undeterred from all the bad reviews, we made our way up to the lake and headed directly for Lido Villa Olmo. We wanted to swim in the lake which is allowed here (higher up, in Cernobbio, swimming in the lake is not permitted). Of course, the water is cleaner & the beaches (lidos) are bigger the higher up you go. But we were only there for a day and were walking, so Villa Olmo it was. Unfortunately, I received no invite to George Clooney's villa.
The bar was really cool - for a place like Como, the prices were very reasonable. You can either sit for free at the bar outside the gates or enter the swimming area (lido and pool) for a fee of 7€/pp. Towels, bathing caps, umbrellas, lockers are all available for additional charge. The lido was small but the water was clear and cool. Drinks at the bar were reasonable & staff was very friendly.
If you've got the extra $$$, go ahead and stay at Villa d'Este in Cernobbio. But if you just want to see what it's all about and be a part of the scene for a day, here's the way to do it without breaking the bank. Although there are both pool and beach, I do not consider the location very family friendly. Something I personally prefer :) just warning families w/ kids that it could get expensive and boring.

One of the two public swimming pools and lidos in Como Centro.
Great family fun for the day. They have a snack bar and two pools with lifeguards. This is where my daughter learned how to swim. Highly recommended for families in the summer when staying in Como Center in the summer months.

With my Finnish family members I felt like giving them chance for a swim in Lake Como, but this - as I then found out - is obviously not recommended around the city of Como. I remember once staying as a private guest at the Villa Melzi in Bellagio and that we then used to go out by boat in this wider area of the lake and that swimming had been no problem.

This time I had checked the internet about Lido Villa Olmo and also saw their prices (€8 per adult), Once in Como we walked past several villas at 35°C towards the Villa Olmo (closed and fenced off) to the Lido Villa Olmo, which as it said was also temporarily closed due to change oif ownership (not mentioned in any website I found).

At the hotel the receptionist told us before that swimming is not recommended in general in this area until Bellagio. So for a swim one has to take a boatride. This was very different to my experience from regular holidays at the nearby Lago Maggiore.

Inside the grounds of Villa Olmo is a small but safe swimming pool, ideal for children. alongside the pool is a good bar, serving all kinds of drinks and food. prices here are better than inn the villa itself, and again, a great view of the lake.

Beautiful place to spend the day. Paid £30 for entrance, 2 sun beds on the front of the lake and an umbrella. Had lunch there (basic food, pizza, sandwich etc) and cost isnt too bad. Very clean but the toilets arent very nice at all. Toilets are just a hole in the floor. Wasnt too busy, relaxed environment and able to swin in the lake. Worth taking sea shoes as its rocky in the lake. Entrance isnt clearly marked, you have to walk around the other side to enter. If you want to swim in the pool, you must wear a swim cap.

We spent a day at Lido Villa Olmo and loved it. Visitors pay a 8 euro entrance fee and have the option of either sunbathing on the grassed area or paying a small additional fee for sunbeds. The Lido has a beach with an area for lake swimming, as well as a pool area. Lockers are also available for valuables.

We had a good value pizza at lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Having booked 4 nights in Lake Como and spent a full on 3 days covering some serious ground and sights; we decided that a well earned break was deserved. We spent a lazy Monday morning by the Lake. I think it can get pretty busy later in the day and at weekends.

We paid for entrance and a lounger which was €13 pp (not sure why you need to pay the entrance fee and then rent a lounger) but this suited our location and was a nice little place to rest our tired legs!

There are other public Lido's which can be used free of charge further up the lake but this was lovely and quiet

It was about a 15-20 minute walk from our hotel that was located in downtown Como. Very easy, the staff all speak English and it was a very pleasant day relaxing by the lake. We arrived before noon and it was still relatively empty, the place filled in by about 2pm.

We rented chairs and an umbrella (though you don't have to if you'd like to use your own towels and don't enjoy the shade) and bought snacks and drinks from the bar all day. The bar has a wide variety of drinks and a small but serviceable food menu.

If you have your own swim cap, bring it if you want to swim in the pool - its a requirement for men and women. They sell the swim caps at the pool if you don't have one, but they aren't high quality. There is no swim cap requirement for the lake. I've read conflicting reports about whether the lake is clean enough to swim in down by Como. We chose not to swim there, but plenty of others were in!
