Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Basilica of San Fedele is a beautiful church in Como built in Romanesque style in the 12th century. On the outside you immediately notice the large rose window and the solid bell tower. The interior has valuable works. To visit.

After visiting the magnificent cathedral, the assessment of the nearby basilica is probably a little unfair, but you should go in just for the beautiful marble floor. When we visited, a funeral mass before the burial had just begun, so we withdrew.
In the immediate vicinity of the church there are nice bars and what are probably the oldest and architecturally very interesting residential buildings in the city, as well as exciting little side streets.

Basilica di San Fedele is located at the former corn market in Como and is dedicated to the martyr Saint Fidelis.
The Lombard Romanesque church dates back to 1120.
The facade was rebuilt and restored in 1914 and the bell tower due to tilting was demolished in 1905 and replaced.
This church in Como is historic and worth visiting.

We much preferred this fine church to the Duomo which is just a few minutes walk away. It has a fine neo-Romanesque exterior (although the clock with it's modern lettering rather than roman numerals looks a little odd - I think it was only built about 100 years ago). There are also traces of romanesque inside although there's mostly baroque elements. Some interesting frescoes obviously dating from the middle ages were the highlight for us. There's an attractive piazza in front of the church which provides a good lunch stop with views of the church's front facade. Definitely worth a visit if you're strolling around Como's histroic centre.

This Church is slightly off the main piazza of Old Como, but is well worth the walk. It is beautiful inside with a mixture of ages of the Church. Frescos and stone work are from several different time periods and the entire church feels like Catholicism lives here.

This old church is worth stopping in and just sitting to enjoy its ancient surrounds.
It is an unusual shape which makes it more interesting than a standard church.
The atmosphere is very peaceful. A great place for some time-out.

Although in the city centre, this church is less busy than the duomo and worth a visit.
It is tucked away in a corner of one of Como's city squares but is worth making an effort to visit.

While it is not as grand and impressive as the Como Duomo, this basilica has quite a history. Dating all the way back to 1120. We enjoyed admiring the chapels and the gilded virgin. There are a lot of amazing frescoes.

Church History from the 4th Century is represented in the namesake of the martyr San Fedele under Emperor Diocletian in the last Roman persecution of Christ Believers. The earliest history of this large, beautiful Basilica days to the middle of the first millennium. The art is extremely inspirational.
The hours for visitation are a bit unpredictable, but very much worth the wait.

Only saw this beautiful building from the outside. Very nice church in a piazza of the same name. Recommended when in the area.
