    Sirmione's beautiful Roman ruins
The excavation site of the Roman spa known as Grotte di Catullo and villa has revealed more about the foundations. It provides an exciting perspective on the intent behind the construction. The view of Garda Lake from this vantage point is glorious. A sight worth seeing.

Fascinating - a must see location
Fascinating and awe-inspiring. Hard to comprehend the scale of this Roman villa. It must have been huge. Lots of ruins to explore and a peaceful olive grove to wander through. Some interesting artefacts in the museum such as pieces of the painted frescoes that would have decorated the walls. A must see if you are in Sirmione.

Really worth the walk and entrance fee.
Beautiful views on the end of Sirmione peninsula. Really impressed by the ruins of a magnificent villa . Well worth the walk to the end of the peninsula to see the remains of this incredible archeological site

    Magnificent Archaeological site and museum
We heard that previous visitors found the roman ruins boring and small and not worth the time to visit. Our experience was quite different. We really enjoyed visiting and learned much. I think you have to already appreciate history by visiting places like ruined castles in the UK or in national museum archaeological collections to appreciate what can be seen at Catullo. If you find dead ruins as boring piles of rocks then this is not for you. If you are fascinated by history and learn from sites of past times then this place is a wonder. Do not miss the museum as it helps very much with the context of the area. The views of Garda Lake from the site are wonderful and it also gives you a nice appreciation if you later take a lake boat tour and view from the water.

    Back in time
The ruins are quite well preserved. The villa is huge. It’s impressive to think how it looked like back in the days. We’ve visited the site in the early morning to avoid the heat of the midday since there is not much shadow around the villa.

    Simply magnificent!
I visited this site with my girlfriend in mid-August and we were both hugely impressed with the size of the ruins. This roughly 2000-year-old Roman villa offers incredible views of Lake Garda and we easily spent over an hour and a half exploring at a slightly faster pace than we wished as we didn't realise this is such a big site. The small museum is nothing to write home about but the scale of the ruins and beauty of the natural surroundings easily makes up for this. You should set aside at least half an hour for the walk from Sirmione castle and I recommend you take the coastal walk on the way to the villa, then the walk inland on the way back so you can fill your water bottle from one of the water fountains on the peninsula. Some of the scenes in the film Call Me By Your Name were filmed in the ruins of the villa, so if you're a fan, take some time to figure out which parts of the ruins were used. All in all, we had we an excellent time visiting this site and I'd recommend it to anyone who travels to Lake Garda.

There is a lot more to see here than at the castle. It is worth the walk to the very tip of the peninsula to see the ruins. There is a small museum to walk through where they have placed some artifacts and have more info about the area. As you walk through the grotto, there are information placards that describe as the area used to be.
$8 for admission and they do have bathrooms

Found at the very tip of Sirmione Peninsula, are some ruins of a Roman villa. There are info boards located around the site however would be better visiting with a guide. If you rush through you can see it all in an hour but would recommend setting aside 2-3 to explore it in depth.

I'll keep this simple. We looked forward to experience exploring the old ruins . However after being told as we entered the place closed at 1900 hrs (we entered at 1625) we thought we had more than enough time to see all that was on offer . However as we entered a certain part we were told by security that it closed at 1700 and had to leave we were practically escorted off the site after paying for what turned out half of the actual ruins . We left extremely annoyed and would never go back .

We saw the ruins from the outside from the beach area and to be fair doesn't look that much but we were staying close by so decided to go in. We chose early morning which was a result as no queue and there aren't too many places to shelter from the sun once you are in so it was cooler when we went along. It is so different from inside than outside and there is so much of interest to see, it was well worth going to and we spent about 2 hours taking in all the detail of these ruins. The views over the lake are beautiful and you get a sense of life lived long ago.

If you are interested in ancient history but also in the wider history of Sirmione over the centuries this is the place for you. A lovely little museum with lots of artefacts and information boards in several languages. Walking round the ruins is great fun and also gives amazing views over the lake. Well worth the €8.

Price for entry was €6.00 per person. Worth the visit for the views from the top of the Castle. Beautiful space to walk around, we spent approx 1 hour walking around and looking at the views.

Fantastic ruins . Really impressed at how much there was left of this roman villa. Entry was cheap and for 14 euros you got access to the castle and 2 other attractions. It's right beside Jamaica beach which is quite beautiful

This is the ruins of a roman villa dating back the the first century BC. It has fantastic views of Lake Garda on three sides and the ruins themselves are amazing, giving a glimpse of history. It is an easy stroll from the old town or you can catch the shuttle train from the top of Via Salvo D'Aquisto for Euro1.50 each way. After you can go down to Jamaica beach if you want to make a day of it. The ruins are well worth a visit.
