Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Take a 5 minutes to have a look to the city from "campo canoa" parking.
... close your mouth please...
After that you can use free bus to meet the city center without getting crazy to find a place for your car.

The skyline of Mantova is beautiful and well worth taking some time to admire. Its beautifully located on lake and on one side is a lovely park to walk around, while the other is the picturesque town which is well worth an explore. What's more the city is off the usual tourist circuit so it has a really lovely vibe.

If you're lucky enough to visit this city, please enter it from Ponte San Giorgio, the bridge leading to the castle with the same name. The view is pretty breathtaking, in any weather, and every time I go back and drive down, it still gets me... I had this skyline as a background for my wedding pictures! Majestic

Driving down towards Toscany one might choose to visit Verona on the way - like everyone else. If you want something a little different go to Mantova instead. It is so beautiful, historic, not touristy and also modern. Nice restaurants, shops and people! Love this city.

Th bridge over the river Mincio is endless. A bus (No 12) stops outside the cathedral and will whisk you across the lake. As you alight, facing you down a slight slope, is a piece of parkland which is semi-natural. Go towards the canoe boathouse. The view of the Ducal palace across the water is absolutely amazing. On a hazy or misty day it hovers above the water like a fairy tale vision. You can seen it from one of the pleasure cruisers which ply the lake but it is best from the far bank. When you cross the road for the bus back you will notice a rather nicely designed garage and cafe. They make good coffee.

We were staying in Verona and wanted a day trip out. Mantua was a short drive and looked as if it might have a few things to see so we took the trip... and boy are we glad we did. It is a lovely, quiet, old city packed with interesting and spectacular things to see. Also lovely restaurants. And all well off the horrid coach-tour trail so even in August it was quiet with mainly locals going about their day-to-day business.
We enjoyed our day trip so much we made another trip on our final day to take in a bit more of the atmosphere.
Thoroughly recommended :)

Magnificent view when arriving by car from Ferrara.
We had mitigated weather and yet the scenery was just stunning.
Allas, Italian drivers are a pain in the neck and the places for foot goers scarce...so try your chance without loosing your life :-)

Just something you must see when in Mantova. Best place is to be across the lake "Lago Superiore" and before 11AM.

This undoubtedly will give you the finest view of the skyine of Mantua, dominated by the forbidding towers of St George's castle.

There is an intention to visit Mantua in the summer for a day or two, please tell me if there are any beaches there and is it generally accepted to go swimming there in the summer? I cannot find information on this topic anywhere, only sights everywhere.
